How much horsepower equates to quarter mile times

I notice a lot of people discussing adding horsepower and final dyno numbers on their ZL1s. I was wondering how that effects quarter mile times. Yes I know tires, traction, weather, altitude all effects numbers.
According to most reports a stock LSA-Zl1 runs approximately 11.9-12.2 quarter mile times (avg). Depending on 6-speed or Auto.

I was wondering how much that time changes with adding 100 HP or 150 HP or 200 HP. for example what does it take to get into the 10s? If anyone has run their stock car and later modded it and re-run I was just wondering if it helped with their time.

Thanks

Chuck

I've heard it said that 10hp=.10 if that's what your asking.

I've heard that passed around as well, but that's in the most ideal conditions with everything (tires, suspension, track prep, etc.).

I think in actuality it's more like half that for most of us as ZME posted. He gained 0.6 for the 125 package.

It's not a linear solution. The faster you go, the more hp it takes to go incrementally faster.

Great thread topic. Automatics probably take the driver mod on trap speed out of the equation.

Vehicle weight, density altitude, wind direction, track surface & prep, tire pressure, and vehicle downforce all play a factor. I’m sure I’ve left a few variables out.

Went way back to find these initial 1/4 mile runs in 2800 DA at Bradenton. Car was probably making +15-20 hp over stock. Let’s say 600 crank Hp trapping 111-112 MPH

https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363932

Car trapped 137 in 2000 DA last month at same track with +300 crank HP thru M6.

This is a fun calculator. Put in your weight and horsepower and it'll give you a rough estimate. Obviously things like trans and tires have a lot more to do with it but it's a good idea of where you can be.

.1 for every 10 horsepower might work when you're in the 13s but the faster you go will always require more power to get to the next level.

Ran my 2013 ZL1,..made 715 on the dyno,..trapped 125mph in 3000DA so take that for what its worth,. Slightly liberal dyno and crappy weather
