2013 ZL1 header fitment issue

Yesterday I installed a set of kooks LTs 1-7/8” and they touch the plastic aero piece that covers the bottom of the engine. Has anyone else had this issue? Do I remove the plastic piece? Cut out around the headers? Leave it and just let it melt? I don’t want to burn it to the ground...

Sorry if this has been covered before

The choice is yours, those are all options. I just left mine off, some people cut around the header, I would definitely not leave it to melt away!

Cut around it. 14-15's had that notched out by the factory for this very reason.

Tin snips, Jigsaw, dremel. There is sort of an outline to follow. Also I ran a torch over the fiber material to stop it from shedding.

Notched mine also. Removing it will not only mess with the aero but also dirty up the bottom of the car.

Of course if your oil cooler or anything else is leaking, it collects on the cover.

Connection pipe

I had my mechanic install my headers a couple years ago with off road connection pipes. Problem is, one of my exhaust clamps broke during a dig and when i got home to park the car it had a dent in connection. So i have tried to button it up with a different style clamp but i can still hear the exhaust leak and I am having trouble finding a replacement piece. Anybody know where i could find any? 1 7/8" TSP longtube headers to OEM catback.

Harbor Freight 2.5 od pipe expander, if you have a heavy plastic mallet you can shape while using the expander if it’s really bad.

i just notched around when I installed my headers. Took me about 10 minutes per side. Keep underside looking clean and factory looking. When I do an oil change just remove those few bolts and lower it down don't have to remove all the way.
