Personally I don't like Corvettes, and I don't see any advantage to owning a Vette instead of a Camaro anyway. I fully expect to spank every one I come across. Never lost to any Vettes with my 2002 SS, and I don't plan to lose to any in my new Camaro either. You obviously are lying or have been lucky enough to not race any serious vette drivers. Corvette is Chevrolet's "creme de la creme" and it always will be. I have owned three vettes and just sold my 06 in preparation for my new 2SS. I just want the throw back muscle car look for a little while, but I'd be a fool to not expect diminished performance. Each to his own. Get what you like, but let's keep the forum honest and realistic and not disrespect the "King of Chevrolet". |

Everybody love everybody. It's all GM, even all Chevrolet.
LS3 in Corvette = 430hp moving 3300lbs. LS3 in Camaro SS = 422hp moving 3900lbs. Acceleration winner is clear. Mod both car's LS3 equally... Accelaration winner is clear. To each his own. GM needs everybody's business, Camaro and Corvette.

The corvette forum is about the only place you will find a new vette for 41k. In the DFW area, a 1lt will cost you about 44 to 45k. My 2ss on order is 34200. That is about a 10 to 11k difference. That is a pretty big chunk of change. I'm driving an 05 vette now, and as good as the camaro is gonna be, it won't out perform the vette. I'm hoping it'll be pretty close, otherwise it's gonna be a tough decision. I deleted the RS package and the stripes from my order to get the price down because it was going to be almost 36k. If I was going to spend 37 or 38k, I would definitely try to buy a new vette. I just can't wait to get into an ls3. My ls2 is quick, but I test drove an ls3 before I bought my 05 and that ls3 is a beast. It pulled as hard as my 04 Z06. Good luck with which ever one you choose. Either way, you're gonna end up with an awesome car. Its a no lose situation.

Ahem, sorry to say this but the bottom of the line vette is still an extremely fast vette. Which is getting the same engine as our top of the line camaro with several hundred pounds of lost weight. Times in the twelves. IDK about you, but if thats faster for the same price, its a vette for me. Plus you put the same mod on the engine in the corvette and the camaro, then the vette will still get more use out of the power than the camaro will because of the decreased weight. But the camaro has two extra seats...D@mn, almost had myself talked into it.

It was a tough decistion for me too. I debated back and forth and decided on the camaro over the ZR1 due to the back seats and new design. I might pick up a Z06 next year for my girlfriend so that I can still play around in a vette on some weekends.

This should acutally pressure the price DOWN on Camaros. If a dealer is intent on selling Camaros at MSRP or greater, and a Corvette can be had for not much more, unless he/she's a complete idiot in the world of finances, if they want to move any Camaros the price on them will drop as well.
If I am going to spend $40k on anything (and I'm not, but if I did), I would certainly buy a Corvette in a heartbeat over a Camaro. |

I don't think that there will be much effect from the deals being offered for the Corvette. Deals like that should boost Corvette sales from Corvette Buyers. The market is either a guy looking for a Camaro, a Corvette or a Chevy Deal. Even if they were in equal parts to one another, that's still 66% of the buyers for that particular market that will go for that deal. In other words. Most of the target market has already made up their minds as to which car they want. They want to get more Corvetter sales since there is a very flexible demand for 2 seater Hi-Po cars during a stuggling economy. People who want a Vette can now get one at a very, very reasonable price.
Thus, this should not hurt Camaro Sales, it well help GM, and further more, help get some more American cars out on the road.

gonna depend on the time... I am in the market in oct 09.... if i can get a 08+ low mileage (under 10k) vette for the same price as a 2SS with the supplier discount... I will go with a vette... otherwise its the camaro.
My decision is going to be based on the factors then .. not now.
