In theory that is correct because shorties do not modify the cats or emissions, but in order to get a smog check, the aftermarket part must have a CARB number/sticker or else it won't pass visual inspection. Gotta love california. it won't be long until my cigars must be CARB approved

I might skip on this mod until it is improved. Cops are already giving me bad looks with my parent in the car

I swear soon they will kick people who breath out to much CO2. In reality we are helping the plants grow I do not see the problem? My family going green with our three V8s

In my recent research, I have not found any headers, short or long that are actually ARB or CARB certified in California.

I did see that Doug Thorley did have the CARB stamp on their shorty headers. I e-mailed them and they responded that they do not have any headers, short or long that are CARB approved in California.

Here's the URL to the California Air Resources Board that lists their CARB approved after market stuff.

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php

I see a lot of forum members say that shorties are approved here in California, but I have not found anything in writing that says they are.

If you do find one, I would be interested in what company it is.

Allen

Nothing CARB approved yet for the LT's.

I know JBA is working with CARB to get all their shorty headers approved up to 2011. That is what they told me when I called and had their shorties.

The DT Shorties are EO Pending; so, I would expect them to have a CARB EO Number at some point.

The problem is that CARB testing is first-come-first-serve, and you have to resubmit your application if there is any problem with the paperwork. The approval process can take quite a long time.

In theory, all shorty headers could be CARB-legal, since they do not change the location of the cats and do not change the exhaust profile such that the O2 sensors register a problem; however, in order to be truly CARB-legal, the company has to pay the privilege-of-making-my-part-legal-in-CA tax. It's a racket to make money for the state and fuel the bloated bureaucracy, really.

Any updates. I'd rather get some shorties than have to uninstall some long tubes in a few years and have the same problem every other f'in year.

I love California, but I fu_cking hate CARB!!!!!!

Guys, was messing around on the carb site and it looks that as of 12-23-11 the American Racing Shorty headers have been approved by CARB. It says they're approved for 2010-2012 5th generation Camaro's with the 6.2 liter engine. See below link.

http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...rmktdevice.php

Doesn't look like the link works, but it's legit. Check out the site.

I guess nobody cares...nevermind. Back to your regular scheduled program:

Do people park to close to your camaro. And
Will installing a custom license plate frame void your warranty

I just ordered a set of JBA shorties for my 1LT. They are now 50 state (and CARB) legal.

http://jbaheaders.com/feature_pages/2010Camaro.asp

Now the ever-lasting question of which rear-end exhaust to go with!
