Yes, the vinyl stripes will be easier to remove down the road. However, if there is some underlying paint issue (e.g., paint adhesion), then when you remove the stripes you could very well remove some of the paint as well. There has been more than one instance of that happening with the newer Mustangs.

No strips for me for the reasons above. I also like the clean look.

Looks like you have a wax build-up along the edges!

I believe the strip package is some where around the $500 mark. If I were to do it over again, I would NOT get the strip package. I would take the $500 and add a little more and have them painted on. The paint will out last the "tape strips" by years!!!! I am thinking about removing them and having them painted back on next year.

I'm very happy with the matte look, especially with my IOM paint. It breaks it up. Luckily I keep my car garaged so hopefully they last many years.

The main problem with painted on stripes is getting them off when they fade/crack. I had to sand them off my 69' and this required the whole car to get repainted. Once the paint starts cracking your screwed. Stickers can be tough too though.
why would the painted stripes crack they are painted and the entire hood is clearcoated ---- if anyone here is going to get their stripes painted on make sure you use a good collision shop that does professional work they have to remove the hood and trunk lid and sand off the entire surface of clear and repaint with stripes and then clearcoat all of it and then bake it at full temp , thats why it has to come off the car so they can bake it on if your painter does not do this dont use him if paint stripes crack its the fault of a painter not doing it right .

Here in Colorado we get 360 days of sun with lots of UV. Never had a car with vinyl decals hold up under this sun for longer than three years. They fade first and then crack. I've been down this road and even if you can get the same decal three years down the road you can never exactly place the new one back where the old one was. The end result is you will see faded and non-faded paint lines after installing the new decal.
Painted stripes done properly are going to cost you $1200. As posted above, hood and tail should be removed, sanded, painted, clear coated and baked.
I'm going painted on mine but I'm also planning on keeping the car for a long time. Jerry.

$1100.00 to paint a stripe seems awfully expensive but what do I know?

My vote is for paint - have it just the way you want it, make it your car. If you really want it nice (and I did) have the whole car cleared too.
