1968 or 2010
My dad found a 68 RS 327 4spd numbers matching car all original survior. It is amazing, a conv and everything fully documented. The only problem is the car is 40k. He cant decide to get this now or wait till the first of the year and get a new 2010. I told him to get the 68 but im still not 100 percent sure. All i know is the 68 will be a huge investment. Tell me what you think

68 will be a money pit, no matter how nice it is. I know i have had them all, even the high end ones are never done. i keep putting money in my 2SS/RS, it is all about the go fast and it has a warranty.

Yea but the thing is, we looked at the car today and were looking at it for atleast 2 hours and it has no rust, runs like a champ and really needed no work. It was the best looking survior i have ever seen. I was suprised

Just my .02....If you like them equally, just remember that they don't make 1968 Camaros anymore. If you found a gem, you might not find another one as easy next time around. I suspect they'll be making 5th gens for at least a few more years

The 68 is not going to be as good quality as the 2010, but if it was me, there would be no doubt I would get the 68 camaro in great condition with matching numbers.
As nice as the 2010 is (and it is) it will never be the original, period. If you are one that wants the spotlight, the 68 camaro will get it all the time. The 2010 will wear off and it will be like any of the 70's, 80's, and 90's camaro. Neat like a belly button, but everyone has it. |

If it were me I'd go with the 68. Yes, the 2010 is awesome, but they are still making them. Unless of course it is going to be a DD. If that is the case then go with the 2010 because you'll be spending a ton on maintaining the 68 if you are driving it all the time.
Besides the styling, uniqueness you could probably also get classic car registration and lower insurance because of that.

I'm all about having both. The 68' is a awesome car and we have a blast driving them though town together. Of couse ours match. We have enough money in our 68' we could have bought 3 2010's

If the '68 is a car that your dad has wanted, then get it. They are harder and harder to find in the condition you describe. Will it eventually need work and "tinkering" with? Sure. Are they easier to work on? Yep. I am guessing that this would be a weekend cruiser for your dad. If so, then if it needs a new alternator or some other minor work it is something he (and you) can do "whenever." If this is a car that your dad has longed for, then he will be kicking himself if he passes on it.

Funny, I faced the same problem. By the time I put the $$ into replacing all the "updates" and rebuilding it, it would cost me the same or more than a 2SS. I decided then on the 2010 because of the time, money and the fact it would be at least a year of very hard work before I could drive it. I had a 68 and miss it, but the 2010 is a great alternative. I don't regret my decision.
