Can I get some Lube with that Hurst install?

So I finally dropped my Camaro off at Gus Paulos Chevrolet to get my Hurst shifter installed. They quoted me $96 an hour and it should only take an hour. Fair enough. I called back three hours later and they tell me they're still working on it. And that they had to drop the tranny to install it!! So now I'm looking at two to three hours for labor for the install.

Let's see folks on these forums have installed these things in under two hours in their driveways with a pair of vice grips and a couple blocks of wood and a Dealership can't do it with all their tools expertise?!!

Mr. Goodwrench my ASS!!

My local tranny shop did it in 1.5 hours for $150.00.

They couldn't give you a flat fee to install?

Sorry to hear about the "lack of lube." Any chance the dealership's "best guy" is Bubba J.?

Sad indeed.

I'd have run as soon as they said "didn't know what they were dealing with"
and "get their best guy on it".

Ssssssooch, to be honest, figured you'd have done it yourself considering you've
been 'intimate' with her and wouldn't want anyone else 'touching' her there...

Did you get a pre-service estimate, or whatever the service dept calls that thing?
If I remember, it says on there that they will notify you if their estimate will be wrong, and get your permission to continue w/ the higher estimate.

Not sure, but something to look into maybe...

Had mine installed at the Hurst office. Took the guy no more than 30 minutes. The tranny support member had to come off for some wiggle room but the tranny didn't have to be "dropped".

You'll love the short throw!

But let us know what you think of the rattle. Do this, accelerate hard in 2nd and 3rd, windows up and radio off. I can't wait to hear your feedback after you do this.

I had never installed a Hurst. Installed it in an hour in my driveway and didn't have to drop the trans. Between 2 guys, we installed two shifters in 2.5 hours with a beer break in between and a trip to the store.

Pathetic to think you are paying that. Hell, the Hurst installed from the factory was supposed to be $400. I understand labor rates, but 3 hours is outrageous.

Maybe they should have watched the video first, then they would have had an idea what they were dealing with. If it's good enough for us, it should have been better for them..

Guess you should have printed out the directions for them and taped them to the dash. It even comes with pictures so the even the best technician should be able to follow it.

Next thing you know, they'll say your drivetrain warranty is no longer valid because you aren't using the stock shifter anymore...
