Aluminum driveshaft. WOW!
There’s no reason to get into why these (or Carbon Fiber) aren’t standard, so let’s let that go by...moving on.
Edit. Car’s an M6. Why I finally got one. Basically. I wanted stronger connections at the ends of the drive shaft and a one piece drive shaft that would reduce any weak points as well as give me stronger bolts and joints. I understood that the aluminum would absorb vibration, but I didn’t know how much, and I read about the improved acceleration. Everything I read and was told was hilariously and ridiculously understated. So here’s what I found....After much driving and “testing” (I’m not a pro) I’m impressed and overwhelmed at the difference it makes. Three things. 1. Less vibration, especially at higher speeds (100+), 2. lower cabin noise (obviously less vibration = less noise) and 3. quicker acceleration. The acceleration is phenomenal. I have a high HP car...not bragging, just saying that if by changing the driveshaft I can feel a difference by unleashing a few more horses, I’m betting it would blow your mind on a near stock car. It’s noticeably and much, much more responsive, (as if I needed that on this barely streetable car.) I can’t state this enough. This should be one of the first mods ya do. It doesn’t increase your Hp, but there’s no telling how much HP it unleashes. This has to be one of the best kept secrets in the world of mods! I mean for those of you starting out...do this first..or second...but at least third! Last edited by SquawkVFR; 11-13-2019 at 09:06 AM. |

That and solid cradle bushings and you’d be set!

Interesting. I had been considering one of these when I did the axles, just so my driveline was beefed up for the boost I plan to throw at it later. Did not think there would actually be much benefit from them from an acceleration standpoint. Maybe I will have to do this sooner rather than later!

It's on the list for when the clutch gets done that's for sure.

I would love to see some before and after dyno results from a quick driveshaft swap.

I doubt you’d see a difference. From my understanding regular track guys and gals would, ideally, launch quicker...I wholeheartedly believe that! Hey Bo. Lay some wisdom on us. There’s tech data I can’t quote...just a little experience and common sense. |

If you can feel such an incredible difference in acceleration, I would think a dyno should reveal it. |

I don't know how much quicker the aluminum driveshaft will make the car, but it will be quicker at the same power. |
