Sub Rattle

I have a JL sub and I love it. But it rattles the trunk and the rear dash. Anyone havem any suggestions on what to do. Should I buy sound deadening board and take my trunk lid carpet off and just have it going across the whole trunk?

I found that my rear deck lid is rattling because of the two pieces of sheet metal touching when the bass hits. I believe the fix would be to use a sound damping material like dynamat. I haven't tried this yet, but will when I can get some spare cash. Hope this works.

Yes, that will do it.
You only need to use approx 25%-50% coverage of dynamat to be successful.
The only time you need 100% coverage is for an SPL car.

Easiest way to apply- use rubbing alcohol to clean the area, cut strips to fit, heat them up with a hair dryer or heat gun, peal and stick, press firmly to ensure full adhesion.
Heat gun/hair dryer is not necessary, but helps a lot especially with odd angles or spaces.

I have JL 12" W3 sub. ******** stealth box and picasso Amp. I tried glueing and putting sound deadener between the two pieces of sheet metal of the trunk lid it helped a little but did not fix the entire problem.

Have you checked the license plate?
With a decent sub pumping out some bass, often the license plate causes rattling issues. This alone was responsible for atleast 50% of rattling issues I dealt with when building and designing setups.
Try taking a small (4"x8") sheet of Dynamat and applying it to the license plate.
Also add a 1"-2" ring around the other speakers.

A possible issue that frequently occurs is that when the trunk is closed and sealed you will hear rattling and vibrations that do not occur when the trunk is open or the rear seat folded down. The fix is to capture a midget and lock him in the trunk, then turn your system all the way up, and refuse to let him out until he tells you exactly where it is rattling.

The fact that the trunk vents differently when sealed is a real issue, and can be a pain to diagnose.
Consider using other forms of sound damping material once the dynamat is in place, such as HushMat

Thanks man,
What I do is park near an enchanted forrest, open the trunk, and place a sandwhich inside along with a single bar of gold, because we all know that this is the perfect bait that most dwarvs will find irresistable. When the halfling climbs into the trunk to get his treasure, slam the trunk lid shut. If you do not have access to a gold bar, a small pile of diamonds will suffice.
