Would you drive a Diesel/Biodiesel Camaro?

On an episode of "Pimp my Ride", the guys a GAS Pimped this kid's 60 something Impala with an 8.0 Liter Biodiesel Duramax engine. This thing had 800 hp and whipped a Lamborghini Gallardo on a 1/4 mile track. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Wrong Forum, exactly! hehe, but to your topic - I would definitly drive a desiel/biodesiel Camaro, if it put out decent numbers and helped to save the environment! Of course, I AM hoping for a flex-fuel Camaro, the higher performance engines seem to be last on GM's ethanol list. Plus, think of all the other muscle cars out there, when they roar thier engines, you idle louder!

fixed...lol

the environment is great and all that, but I dont think we have a chance in hell to fix it if things keep going the way they are.

No, no. We'll get it. but like always, it'll be at the last possible second. Damn us, you know. With our Camaro's and our trucks...LOL

but really, I do think we (humans) can fix this planet. At least for long enough to get off of it...

I was actually considering moving to Kuwait, Dubai or Qatar and opening a speed shop for all these rich kids. Plus there are a rediculous amount of desolate, straight roads with good pavement for racing, and gas is like $0.20 a gallon. Sounds pretty crazy, but it would work. I would just need a few good mechanics and tuners and a good body guy(or girl). It would be the Middle East version of The Fast and the Furious. On the diesel Camaro issue, it's kinda like the difference between a Mac and a PC, sure the Mac is way better, but the PC is way more mainstream and is supported by a bigger aftermarket. I'll take my LS3 and be happy with it. Diesel Camaro is kinda like a supermodel taking a dump, it's just something you don't see happening.

The diesel aftermarket in the last five or so years has exploded. There are far too many to name but Gale Banks, Bully Dog, and Edge just to name a few. Its an intersting idea however I would only own one if it was a second car I have to hear the roar of a V8 under the hood.

I am a huge proponent of biodiesel and would definitely buy a Camaro with a diesel engine if it still performed like a Camaro should! I like E85 as well, but biodiesel is cheaper to produce and can be made out of more resources.

I remember watching something on SPEED a while back about some group that had build a roadster that ran on biodiesel and accelerated from 0-60 in like 4.2 sec. Pretty good IMO.

BMW, Mercedes, VW all make Diesels that are fast as a cat on a griddle. Light weight low/no sulfur diesels make power fast and harder getting a 130 percent more performance from a gallon of fuel. It used to be that slow revving fly wheel effect was an issue fixed by constant variable transmissions. Now they rev, run, and out run many gasoline vehicles.

There's hardly any diesel gas stations aroud here and diesel is some 40 cents higher then supreme as well. I don't think I could afford it.
