Tune-up needed?
I'm contemplating an airaid cold air intake system for my ZL1. However, I only have 300 or so miles on the vehicle. Do I still need to get a tune up?

Do you mean a tune? Where the computer is updated to use the intake to its potential?
Or a tune up as in spark plugs, fuel filter......

I mean a tune. Sorry, since I bought this car I'm trying to learn more about the mechanical aspects of it.

the Airaid CIA needs a tune. I got moie from Torq.com a sponsor here is C5 and all CIA need a proper tune to actually get it's benefits. I haven't installed mine, I'm waiting until I have good break-in miles in.

I'm doing the same thing. I want to make sure all the kinks are worked out before I do any modding.

NO, it doesn not NEED a tune, at least with the Roto Fab that I got. I installed it at 2000 miles with no tune. While I agree that you shoudl tune in order to get the maximum power and torque out of it, it is not mandatory. I get a bit more power, torque adn sound than stock with it installed as is. I had no light on the dash in 600 miles now.
Now, when I go over the wanrranty period I'll tune it to get another 20hp out of it. Right now, it's not worth risking the warranty over it. Thanks |

I ordered the stage 1 performance pack from TORQ. Includes a Airaid CAI,
and a SCT tuner, then a custum tune from TORQ, also ordered a 90mm ported TB. got a bump to around 660 BPH. have 4000 mi. on mine. All I can say is wow, talk about a wake up. Turn the nannies off, smoke 1st, hard bark in 2nd, and 3rd. what a difference the added HP and Torq make no one will be dissapointed. 1300. Pretty cheap for a world of difference. |
