Rod modded and ported LS3 intake or ported FAST LSXR 102
So i am about to order the final parts for my 2nd big upgrade on my car. Current mods are:
2013 SS 6-speed Manual, TSP Stage 3 231/246 cam kit, TSP Trunion upgrade, Cold Air Inductions CAI, VMAX PTB, TSP 1 7/8 Long tube headers and high flow cats, Corsa Xtreme ZL1 Catback exhaust, Elite E2-X Catch can 487rwhp/441rwtq What I am about to install: Milled Trick Flow Gen-X 255 heads, 850 injectors, Flex sensor and E-85 I also am doing a Intake and was completely set on a GPI rod modded and ported LS3 intake until my friend offered me his almost new FAST LSXR 102 that has been ported by Vengeance Racing to a 105 for $800. Is it worth it? I have done a ton of research and seen that typically the stock LS3 intake is damn good and a rod modded and ported one is even better. But I am having a hard time finding a comparison of a modded stock LS3 intake vs a Ported FAST in conjunction with the Trick Flow GEN X 255 heads. I am not looking to go over 7,000 rpm and I am not looking for peak power with the intake, I want to increase power overall and not lose torque on the low end. Anyone on here with solid info to help me make a decision?

Based on your mods and the direction ur headin the Fast will take you further than a stock...I would also be thinkin about a bigger tb to match the intake...
so as far as low end tq that ship left the port as soon as you did the cam...IMHO...and with the addition of the heads even more so....embrace your combo and set the rev limiter to 7200! you have all the req upgrades to do so with ease. your shift point should be in the 6800 to 7k range... if I were you I would be givin serious thought to upgradin the rear to at least a 3.91...world of difference! also sum basic rear suspension mods to stop the inevitable hop. good luck! peace

Just keep the stock intake. Your not utilizing what you have if your not going to spin it over 7k. This is where your car will have gained the utmost performance and your just going to let that power do nothing but take a ciesta

Between the two Ive seen the largest gains with a ported FAST but look at the money it takes.

3.91 gears, axles and suspension mods are soon after. I was concerned with spinning too high and risking damaging the stock bottom end, still not sure I want to take that risk. I am at a point where I can spend around $450-$500 for a rod modded and ported stock intake or pay $800 for a ported FAST 102 and then have the option to sell my stock one so the difference of cost is gonna be less than $200. Just trying to make a decision hopefully today before the intake sells.

I can say i have taken my LS3 to 7900 more then a few times on a no lift shift an no issues. GM reset the limiter them self to 7k when you by the upgrade LS3 package in their tune. Numerous guys spin them over 7400. These are not 1980 SBC. They have good parts in the bottom end and you already have valve springs for good control. The fast is a no brainer with your set up. I seen this intake for sale off a boosted vet in the west palm area but he wanted to much money for it. Get you a Holley 105 Tb later down the road and let it eat.

Well my buddy sold the FAST 102 already. I am on the fence on what to do or where the money will be spent best. Do I go with the FAST 102 or do the rod mod and ported LS3 and use the extra money to go 3.91 gears. If only i was rich and could do it all

realistically stock cubes you most likely would not have gained much and lost some bottom end torque anyway and had to buy a Nick Williams TB......
