best cam specs
ive already posted a thread like this but I am actualy going to do a new cam very soon but im still not sure of exactly what cam to get? im not looking for everyone to suggest there own cam im just looking for for opinions on what everyone thinks the best powered cam out there is but I also don't want it to be all power with no torque but I would like a good amount of power too it doesn't have to be midranged and equal. I justy did a 9inch kit with 3.91 gears and I have 3in exhaust and lt headers and cai along with pfadt motor mounts bc coils and I also have a tire so I am basically trying to find the best cam for my modds I already made 428 rwhp and 426 rwtq soo any suggestions would be great. thanks! I also have the m6 ls3 btw and I do like the really lopey sound although that's not the reason im doing the cam.
also any dyno graphs pictures ect would be great along with it! |

Night fury imo, the tq is better than just about all the others, and it makes ~480+. Also a great platform to add a centri blower to.

Another Vote for the night Fury. I love the way my car feels now. Here is the dyno graph for mine plus a link to my build.

That tq is misleading unless you specify that it's with ported heads. A good set of ported heads is worth 30-40tq.

So you're saying that the nf cam gave no increase in tq? He picked up ~40, so is your claim that thats all the heads? Plenty of other cars out there making boat loads of tq with tjat cam and stock heads.

Even 450rwtq is strong for basically cam only, that would be 40rwtq gain fron where I was with intake and headers.

Best cam is the one you get SPEC'D for your setup/goals I am not a fan of a cam that hundreds run off the self plus From what I've been told the NF isn't always the same specs from what members have shared.
It sure sounds good and all but it isn't the best one out there just my 2 cents.

Here is another one at ~460 tq no heads.
The reason I went with the night fury is that the power comes on quickly and there isn't a huge loss in power/tq down low compared to other cams, yet it still produces above average numbers. You could also use a smaller cam from rick crawford and mill the heads, which would probably net similar gains. |

I agree what someone else said....do some research and choose what fits you best. Understand this...there are lots of cams that will increase hp/tq. The important thing is where in the rpm range this occures. For these heavy cars, you want your tq kicking in early in the rpms. My .02 would be keep the duration under 228 and lift under .600. Keep it tight with the lsa......112-108. You will get all the useable tq you need all under the curve.

This picture of dyno sheet shows the torgue of the Night Fury Cam with stock heads. The line went straight up until 4500 rpm then curved to 477.
