'83 Mustang GT 5.0= $9,445.

An almost $2K difference.

My '84 H.O. Z28 was over $13K with no ttops, auto trans, power seats, etc.
My '87 IROC was OVER $16K with no ttops, auto, cruise, tilt, power windows/seats,etc.etc.

ford also stuck with 4 cylinder availabilty much longer than Camaro did, making the entry level models even cheaper.

The "one large vehicle" comment was directed toward the Chally not the Mustang.
I see what you were talking about, however I was talking about the 1990s and above. I have not looked at the price difference of the 80s models, and I somewhat do not see how something that took place some 30 years ago applies to todays market.

For the 1990s the price between the Mustang and Camaro have been pretty much in line with eachother as far as MSRP goes. For example the 1995 Ford Mustang had a price range of $14,530-$25,605 while the 1995 Chevy Camaro had a price range of $14,495-$23,195.

doc700, I understand your point, but if you look at the last 1.5 years and go model by model instead of using a top of the range only, you will see that comparing a 2010 SS vs. 2009 or 2010 GT, the Camaro was more expensive. If you add the GT500 into the mix, yeah the Mustang is more, but Camaro doesn't have a model to compare to the GT500(yet).
now if you compare a 2011 GT5.0 to the SS the prices are closer.
You will get the same result with a 2010 LS/LT to a 2009/2010 Mustang V6. The Camaro was more. You simply couldn't get a hardtop Mustang V6 into the $32K range like you can with the Camaro. With the improvements made to the 2011 Mustangs the prices are closer.

In 1995 there was no Mustang GT500 and I was comparing the entire range (V6 to V8 model).

If you compared the 2010 Camaro SS ($31,000) to the 2010 Mustang GT ($29,000) then yes there was that $2,000 difference in price. However for that difference in price you got better content not to mention that the Mustang GT had a 4.6L 315BHP engine while the Camaro SS had the 426BHP 6.2L engine. Still during that model year the Camaro clearly outsold the Mustang even though there was a $2,000 price difference. In order to get a Mustang with the same things that the Camaro had you had to opt for the Premium package which in 2010 actually made the Mustang cost more then the similarly equiped Camaro 1SS.

2010 Camaro V6 started at $23,000 and the 2010 V6 Mustang started at $22,000 a $1,000 difference in price. The 2010 Mustang you could option up to about $30,000, I don't see a huge deal with being able to option the Camaro up to $32,000, how many of these cars were optioned out fully loaded?

Its not like 1984 where a $2,000 price difference was a 20% difference, a $2,000 difference in price today about 7%. Having a difference of $2,000 means much less today then it did in 1980.........

Maybe in your area. I agree there's a lot of Camaro's out there now, but I can't blink without seeing a girl in a Mustang.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree or else this back and forth could keep going and going.

Where was that? It mustve been an odd model or strange combination. I couldnt find an R/T under $35k if you wanted a sunroof and Sat radio.

LOL @ Mustangs being exclusive.

Neither one of these cars are exclusive. It's just stupid to think they are. You want exclusivity? You should have bought a Corvette, if you can even call them exclusive.

According to my local Ford dealer they are exclusive. Why else would he add
"Limited Availability" Additional Markup on them? LOL.

+1

I'm in Tampa and in my 25 mile trip to work on a very busy road i have seen exactly 2 Gen5 Camaros this entire week. One of them was MINE. Yet i have seen probably 100 Mustangs. And 1 SRT8
