cat pic

This is the driver side. The passenger side was even worse and was loose. Car is a bit louder and have noticed nice power increase.

Factory Programs Dump fuel in the Converters to Cool Them.

Ted.
Our global sales manager talked with me about the effect of fuel on cats, but I can't quote him verbatim. He actually used to design the cats for GM for a number of years, i forget how many. I will forward him your questions and get an in depth answer. The temperature of the catalyst is a pretty big factor in aftermarket cats, most aftermarket metallic cats are rated up to 1,200 degrees fahrenheit, that is extremely hot. When raw fuel gets dumped into them it burns off the coating and makes the cat substantially weaker.

You guys can expect a full response tomorrow on the whole rich vs lean and everything in between arguments. I forwarded all the questions I could find to our global sales manager, he designed cats for GM and has designed for other industrial companies as well. He has been through tons of analyzing sessions with different cats to see why they fail and the affect of fuel on them. He will be able to give the best answers possible.

I've had my supercharger on for about a month now and I'm starting to think the cats need to go, just in case.
Damn!
