Aug 25 Hot Air Balloons Albany, Oregon
This is a neat free show that happens August 24-26. I usually get there about 6:30 am on Saturday to see the balloons inflate and take off. You can walk right up to the balloons, and they are huge when you are standing next to them.
 This is a great show for kids. In 2011, there were about 40 balloons. There is more to do there if you stay all day.More info: http://nwartandair.org/balloons/ Who wants to meet there?

Balloon Event Parking Info
August 24-26 The Santiam exit in Albany is crowded during this event. The Knox Butte exit isn't. Don't waste your time trying to park in the red X areas, they will be full or posted no parking. Park in Lots A, B or C. Lot A will be full and packed in, B probably, and C will be empty. If you want to leave some space around your car, I suggest lot C. It will only take about 5 minutes to walk from lot C to the Balloon Launch area. Plan to be on the Balloon field at least 10 minutes before the official launch time at 6:45 am on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. This will give you some time to walk around and see the inflating balloons, before they go up in the air. They usually stagger the launches so that it will take 20-40 minutes to get them all up. I will be there on Saturday, and probably in lot C.
