Diagnostic charge?

Has anyone that brought there Camaro (or any model Chevy) in with a issue during the warranty period have been advised of a Diagnostic charge if the issue isn't found by the tech or is determined to be normal (lol) ?
BTW $126 is the charge from my local dealer, I'm trying to remember back when I had issues with previous chevys if there was this charge.
TIA Rob.

That's some pushy behavior.

Looks like 1 hour of labor, a normal minimum.

But to tell you that up-front on a warranty car is brash.

I'd try another dealer.

If the car is under warranty the dealer is not to charge you even if they dont find anything, they are paid by GM for their time to diagnosis the vehicle while it is is there. Then if repairs are needed they are paid for the book repair time as well.

That is nothing more than a cop out from a dealer who isnt confident that their mechanics know what they are doing. GM has a TAC line to help dealer with issues that are hard to find as well.

Pretty normal actually.

If you bring it in for something YOU THINK is under warranty, and it turns out it isnt, than GM doesnt pay for it. The dealer still performed a service and since GM doesnt cover it, that means you have to.

Common scenario:
Car comes in and is no longer under bumper to bumper warranty, but is under powertrain warranty.... customer complaints about noise coming from rear axle. Dealer diagnoses vehicle and figures out wheel bearing is bad. Wheel bearings are a wear and tear item and are not covered by the powertrain warranty. GM wont dish out a nickel for anything, but the dealer still has time and money spent on the vehicle. You cant expect the dealership to do it pro bono, that would make the dealership lose its franchise in a heartbeat.

If it's still under 3yr/36K bumper to bumper they shouldn't ask for the diag charge. If it's just under powertrain warranty the dealership should and will tell you that IF whatever they find isn't covered there's a diag charge...or if they can't find anything(though if I was the advisor and my tech couldn't find anything I'd find him time elsewhere). It's very common, businesses are in the business to make $$$. That diag charge would only come into play if the failed component isn't under warranty.

Absolutely correct, GM just doesn't throw out diagnostic money to the dealer with no fault found. It's no different than if you feel a bit "off" , and go to your doctor, and he really finds nothing wrong after running blood tests, you (or your insurance) still get a charge for the office visit and the diagnostic test.

Thanks to all for the reply's the Service Adv explained a similar scenario that Danhr & Frosty ss replied to when I asked him to elaborate on that charge I just don't remember the other dealerships I've been to in the past having this policy. (BTW I wasn't charged this was warranty work)
Anyway they did the tranny flush using the Mobil1 Syn LV ATF Dexron HP fluid as the bulletin recommends and the tech believes from his exp doing these that I won't need a TC replacement, so hopefully he's correct.
The 14 mile highway drive home was good no signs of the shudder will be going on a longer road trip next week and see how it feels.
