Engine Light, Roughness

2011 LS
17400 miles

I'm driving on Interstate 4 today from Lakeland to Tampa with the cruise control on around 76 or so. Suddenly the check engine light comes on. I immediately turn off cruise control and let the car slow a little. Then i accelerate and the engine is extremely rough. I exited off the interstate and called roadside assistance. The car is now at Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City and I have a loaner Cruz. What the hell with only 17k miles? Hopefully I can find out tomorrow what the deal is.

Very frustrated.

They gave you a Chevy cruze too. Sucks your engines light kicked on. I blew some fuse in my car that shut off the a/c, onstar, and radio awhile back. They gave me a rental and it was a Chevy cruze, I felt like I was in a space ship because the roof was way above my head. Good luck on finding out why the engine light kicked on.

Yea, hoping to find out today what the problem is. All I know is I'm not a happy Camaro owner right now. 17k miles is way too soon to have a car stranded and towed.

Hopefully they can fix your Camaro quickly.
Just lost the engine on my old pickup truck. Needed something more in gas savings, so I bought a Cruze ECO. Not a bad little car!! And when I want some WALLOP, I hop into the SS!!

Just talked to the dealership. Apparently the fuel injector went bad. She's said she's not sure what caused it and has never seen it happen.

Any input from anyone?

Thx.

Bad gas and/or clogged injectors sounds right. These engines seem to be sensitive to fuel quality/ethanol. We have had issues in Austin where the actual ethanol mix is 30% or more. Ethanol will start to pull water out of the tank as well, which could be an issue if your car sits with a half full tank in a humid climate.

Also check the spark plug wires that they are fully seated. My car ran better after I went around and pushed them all tight.

We apologize for the frustrations. Have you been able to figure out what was going on? I would recommend consulting a dealership for a proper diagnosis.

Please let me know any updates or details.

Thanks Brandon,

As I said a couple posts ago, I did talk to Stingray Chevrolet this morning and they said it was a faulty fuel injector.

Any ideas why this would happen at 17k miles?

Jon

Stingray is a top notch performance dealer. They will get it squared away. I got a Malibu loaner last time i was there.

bad gas, after they fix run a can of sea foam ( dont bash me i have never put sea foam in a camaro, but cleans up every other vehicle i have ever done.) put in crank case and in fuel tank. always does wonders for me.
