Brain Tooley Racing LSX Real Street Shootout at NMCA Memphis

This year is lucky number 13 for the Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout as it celebrates the thirteenth gathering under that moniker. The annual get-together goes down May 2-5, 2019 at hallowed grounds—Memphis International Raceway during the COMP Cams NMCA Memphis Homecoming. The facility is not only the birthplace for the street car movement, but also the location of the first LSX Shootout back in 2007.

This year, Brian Tooley Racing continues the Real Street Shootout and it takes place Friday and Saturday for any LS/modern-LT powered racecar in Edelbrock Xtreme Street.

The race-within-a-race allows Real Street competitors to remain in Xtreme Street competition, enabling a racer to double up on event wins with one trip to Memphis. Real Street rewards the winner with a check for $1,000 and a bonus, courtesy of Chevrolet Performance, in the form of an LSX engine block!

As if that isn’t enough, the Real Street Shootout winner is invited the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series Champions Dinner, held during the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in December. The winner will also receive a Chevrolet Performance champion ring to commemorate the victory.

“The risk is definitely worth the reward for any LS or moden-LT powered Xtreme Street or Ultra Street racer that makes the trip to Memphis. Those racers can run two races in one event with a great payout for each category,” said ProMedia Publishing & Events general manager Rollie Miller. He continued, “Like last year, it doesn’t matter if your LS engine is in a Mustang or other non-GM vehicle, all entries are welcome to participate in the Real Street Shootout.”

Qualifying begins on Friday with two rounds—one in the early afternoon and a second hit during the NMCA heads-up qualifying session in the early evening. A third Real Street Shootout qualifying run will take place on Saturday morning before eliminations begin later that day. NMCA officials have marked which Real Street Shootout rounds will count towards the Xtreme Street qualifying ladder for Sunday’s race. The daily event schedules will also have specific run orders to keep the Real Street Shootout and Xtreme Street competition organized.
