Performance Summer to Performance All-Season: Will I be disappointed?

I have previously run 275 P-zeros on 9" wheels and currently run Hankook R-S3 285's on ZL1/1LE wheels. I do a fair amount of autocrossing so I'm covered with the 285's. I want to get a second set of ZL1/1LE-fitment wheels with tires to run on my daily drives so I can save the expensive tires for events. Having gotten used to the high performance summer 285's how disappointed would I be with a high-performance all-season such as the BFG G-Force Comp-2 A/S's? Anyone have any experience with them?

Well..I cant speak about g force as2 but, I made the switch from stock 1LE trackw tires 2 months ago to Michelin AS3.

At first I was disapointed because I could really feel the sidewall was softer and felt like the handling was less stiff and more comfy. But, after countless hard cornering, I can tell you I will not go back to F1 G2 unless Im doing lapping. AS3 made the car way more forgiving for bumps and rain (lot of grip in cold and rainy weather). They last longer and I cot used to the softer ride.

The downside is that they squeal under really hard cornering, but they still got grip there.

I havent for the chance to autocross again, but G2 were not good at all for it because they take too long to heat. But they are track/lapping all star tires.

Your best bet would be Michelin PSS I think. I would have got those but they were not available back then.

Still, I highly recommend Michelin AS3 tires. Summer is kinda cold where I live though.

I really wish someone was running the Comp2 A/S. that is the direction I am leaning but being such a new tire its hard to compare.

I don't see the AS3 in a 275/40/20 and I have heard complaints about short treadlife with regard to the AS3.

Just learned the 275/40/20 Comp2 A/S won't be available until November.

I need tires now as the P Zeros are dead after 40k miles. Guess I'll bite the bullet and pick up a set of AS-03s.

Looks like 285/35R20s are September, too. Sure wish someone had some experience with them so I could make an informed decision.

I might have run it by the accountant (wife) to see if I can pop for a set of DSWs.

We rated it higher than the popular General Gmax. See test review above.

Ha! That review is what led me to create this post.

So Rudy... given I have driven on Perelli P-zeros, BFG G-Force Rivals, Michelin Pilot Super Sports and now Hankook R-S3's.... how would the BFG hp all-season compare? I'm sure they'll be less grippy and responsive than the HP summer-onlys but how much?

Rudy,

While I appreciate all TR does with regard to testing tires I personally want to see some real world data before I make a decision on what tires I will buy. Enthusiast and community reviews from all aspects is what drives 75% of my buying decision.

With that said, what you guys do DOES have an influence on what I look to when buying and for that I am deeply grateful for you and the whole TR team.

Right now I am leaning towards the DWS 06. Heavily leaning.

There is a big difference. No all season tire has the grip or response of those tires. It's a compromise.

Thanks Rudy...

I'm just hoping being high performance means they won't be terrible.

I made my move. DWS 06's go on Friday.

I agree with Rudy.

I made my choice based on the fact that we get below 30, sometimes we get a little snow/slush and I transport my three girls on a daily basis. I wanted a good all season tire as my car is a DD and wet traction was a concern more so than all out performance.
