Hope you don't have a fender bender

I ordered my 2010 camaro the day that GM started taking orders. My car arrived at my local dealership in June and I told everyone that I would only put a few hundred miles on it each summer. So we had a local car show and my wife and I decided to go in the cruise. We are cruising with 50 other hot rods and this lady comes out to water her garden and sees a deer in it. She shoes the deer right into my front bumper!!

We are only going around 50 km/h and all the air bags go off in the car, front steering wheel, dash, and side bags. Onstar comes on and we cancel the ambulance that they have dispatched, the police come and we fill out the accident report. I then cut the air bag out of the steering wheel so I can drive it home. As I drive through town, I still have people giving me the thumbs up and waving. You can hardly see the damage, just the front bumper is cracked and the grill is smashed.

I take it to ICBC ( which is our government insurance in BC ) and they estimate the damage to be $8,000 damage. I am shocked as it looks like only a few hundred dollars. I then get the call on friday that because they can't get parts for these 2010 Camaro's yet, they are writing it off!!!!

Long story short, with the replacement insurance I have, they will try and sell it for parts. If anyone wants a almost mint car except for this little damage, they should get ahold of ICBC in Nanaimo.

Problem is, they can't get my car with the same options, GM doesn't make them anymore apparentley. I have been promised that they will get me another car. We will have to wait and see.

So please, I hope other Camaro owners don't have a fender bender and need parts, cause there isn't any yet.

Dude... wtf? I'd be killer pissed off. I imagine that most of the $ to repair it is coming from the airbags.

Apparently they have to replace almost the entire interior except the seats, - dash, carpet, head liner, side panels in the rear. The car doesn't have that "new car" smell, it now smells like air bags and I guess the interior is now stained. As for the options, I have been told by my local dealer that you can't get the ss/rs with the 400+ hp with the 6 speed manual tranny. I was told on the phone about 15 minutes ago that they may be able to get me a Transformer edition. At least I would get the drive train and colour that I wanted. Not sure on the Transformer decals and what not. I don't mind the center caps on the wheels and the arm rest piece, but it kind of ends there.

But if your saying your dealer said you can not order a manual SS/RS, well then I say he's full of (you know what).

I think you need to investigate this, it sound like a load of crap. Maybe someone is trying to get your car cheap within icbc so they can fix it up themselves... I wouldn't put it past them, and to not being made anymore.... WTF? Sounds fishy.

Get the damage report and see just what makes it so expensive.

Funny, I just went to GM's website and built a 2SS/RS M6...no problem. Also, I just talked to my sales rep on Friday (my aunt, whom I have bought 4 chevys from already (2 cavaliers, monte carlo and equinox, all brand new). She has my order ready, just have to give her the ok. She didn't tell me anything about M6 not being available anymore on the 2SS/RS. Sounds Fishy to me.

Well, seeing that you are from BC, it's not like this hasn't happened before. I am in Edmonton at my kids hockey camp right now, but I will be home next week and will be going to see wtf is going on.

If they are so "hard" to get parts for, then get me a new car and let me buy mine back from them so I have a parts car.

PS: I forgot to tell you that the lady was going to give me crap about the dead deer until I told her I was RCMP and to shut up - my baby just got hit by a deer because of her.

WTF? GM still makes everything that you must have got on your Camaro. If anything GM has added more options since early production. Dude you need to get a hold of a dealer that will get you the car you want and show the insurance that they can get the car from their. It is retarted of them to say something like that. Altleast you are fully cover and most of the 8k of damage is probably from the 5 - 6.5 k airbags. I wrecked my Civic because some stupid illiterate girl pulled into the intersection cuz she thought she could go even though she didn't have green arrow and did not know that I also had a green to go straight, apperantly she did not understand the yeild concept. The damage wasn't too bad but the airbags deployed and airbad system alone was bout 7k. I totalled the car, her insurance was geico and due to no witnesses it was a he said she said situation and my car was covered my insurance and gap covered the rest. In the end my car which I had paid 12k into already was totalled leaving me with no car.

It's his insurance people telling him this stuff. Having a somewhat minor fender bender totalling a new Camaro like this sounds crazy. What VIN # was this? I got my #6125 on June 1st. Could they be saying this because its an early order car?

Yes, some of you are missing this, it is the INSURANCE company that is writing it off and then telling me they can't find the same car. My dealer says that he can get a Transformer edition right away, I just need to ass kick the adjuster to understand.

Oh, about the deer. The little old lady came out and said that she hoped I had plans for taking care of the deer, so I wrapped it around the hydro pole - so now all the other deer have been put on notice
