How much do mods affect your trade-in value?

So let's say someone finds a killer deal on a 2009 vette with 11k miles on it for $32,000 and they want to 'possibly' trade-in their Camaro. Now that person has a cam, headers, tune, etc etc. Will it affect the trade in cost any or will you just be SOL on any mods you have done thus far and be out that much money?

Sometimes the mods hurt the value, as a lot of people don't want to buy a modified Camaro...at least that is what my dealer told me....Good luck...

They could easily be swapped for stock parts, but still wondering if the current mods would be an issue for the trade in value.

for sure.
his best bet would be sell to a person that wants a modded Camaro and get what he wants.

You'd be better off going back to stock on your trade-in, and selling your mods separately.

Understand that being stock is better. I guess I'd have to wait and see what the dealer says about it if I take it in to be appraised.

I'D NEVER buy a Camaro or any other car that had been modded in any way... But I always buy new so not an issue for me.

most dealers won't buy back a vehicle with a modded motor, cosmetics eh, maybe..

but motor mods will not gain you anything, and they might hurt if the dealer even wants to deal with it, lots of legal hoops to jump thru is some states (Kalifornia for example).

I personally would buy a modded Camaro. Let alone one with a cam. As the buyer you just don't know who did the work or how the owner treats the vehicle. I mean most of us take very good care of our cars. But that's the community....a random buyer doesn't know that. Personally you'd be better off selling the car to someone looking for a modded Camaro as returning it to stock isn't really an option since you have the cam.

I would also think the act of voiding a 5yr 100k powertrain warranty would hurt quite a bit too. a lot of buyers like that piece of mind. forces the dealer to basically sell as is, and that's a hard sell when your want top dollar

depends on mods if its lightly modded and nothing crazy it wont hurt or help you. Now with yours having a cam in it it'll most likely hurt you more than help

There are a lot of factors!!!

Like what shop did the tune/mods. But that is not going to increase the price, its only going to help you sell it easier. If you have give a really good deal for someone to buy a built motor. Thats what i did.

I think it depends on the dealer. I have seen more than 1 modded camaro on GM lots. Aftermarket exhaust, supercharger on one I drove that one by the way NICE.
