GM 8.6 gear sets.

Can anyone tell me if our stock 8.6 IRS gear set is different then the 10 bolt 8.6 gear sets that are available. I'm needing a install kit with a 3.73 gear and its listed for a 8.6 10 bolt but I'm not sure if the 8.6 IRS uses a different gear sets. Thanks.

My understanding is the bearing spacing is different besides the obvious alignment dowel for the guibo mount not being present on the 10 bolt pinion gear.

You want the gears specific for the 8.6 IRS. We carry 3.91s and 4.11s at GPI - if I can help you get a set let me know with a message.

Thanks guys. Yeah the gears and install kit are totally different. I think a 3.91 will be more gear then I'll need so i was hoping the cheaper 3.73 for the 10 bolt 8.6 would work. I guess I'll just go with the 3.45's.

3.91s are awesome unless using a power adder.
