Wow. Just scratched KB off my list. Makes my decision on what FI system to go with even easier.

how about those Kenne Bell advertisements that say just put a Kenne Bell on your Camaro with headers and drag radials and you'll run 9's in the quarter mile.
so simple to run nines in our Camaros. lol I support ted at jannetty racing 100% in this matter. |

I have both tubes and will put my KB on next week. If KB wants me to put on their tube and get it tuned with my tuner, and willingly pay for any damage caused by their product (if damage does occur, I am not saying it will for sure) I will do so. But I feel more confident using Ted's tube with their blower. I can't afford a possible $3000 mistake. I'd rather be safe then sorry.

KB is running themselves into the ground. Acting very unprofessional. Sad thing is I still love their S/C..just if i get one, i will DEFINETLY use the 4" tube from Ted.

What a thrashing this thread has been!
You gotta admit they don't make 'em like Jim Bell anymore. Think what you will, but I respect his passion. He's hardcore-old-school-rough-n-tumble... and, again, think what you will but I enjoy the fact that he gets involved. If he didn't care he wouldn't have said anything at all. Think about that. |

Kenne Bell Supercharger in my 2013 ZL1
Before I even bought my ZL1, I knew I would be upgrading the 1.9 stock supercharger to a 2.8 or 3.6 Kenne Bell. Unfortunately they didn’t have a kit ready for it yet. Fortunately for me, they needed a donor car!
In November, I dropped off my brand new ZL1 automatic with only 2200 miles on the clock at Kenne Bell so they could develop their new supercharger kit. They told me it is the same basic kit they use on all the SS/L99 cars. Picked it up in January which was a quick turnaround! They said the only thing was the auto trans really consumes a lot of horsepower. They were able to come up with a loss of about 20% when comparing my rear wheel horsepower to the rated horsepower. 465 rwhp / 580 rated engine hp = .80 so their numbers reflect the 20%. The final number for “91 octane” (highest octane you can get at the pump in Cal.) was 565 rwhp / 706 engine hp! The difference is incredible! I’ve put over 1800 miles on the car with the new supercharger installed and it runs like factory. I’ve put some hard miles on it too and no drivability issues at all. The tune is spot on even with the bigger injectors I had them install in case I really wanted to run the boost up. It has the polished 4-1/2” cold air Mammoth inlet system. They even tested the stock airbox compared to the early SS models. It flowed about 22% more but they said you would never want to run anything less than their 4-1/2” system. In fact my car exhibits none of the issues I’ve read about on this forum. It starts and drives flawlessly. Never had a single issue with the trans shifting or anything else so far. I took my car to the drag strip to test a tune using Shell URT116 racing fuel with their 3” pulley and race tune. I have drag radials on it as well. With that combination, my car made 653 rwhp (187 rwhp gain)! Got the car to do a 11.50 pass “so far” Trap speed 123 --60 ft 1.695 - boost 16 . Spun the tires a bit but we are going next weekend to the track hopefully get it to hook and bring that 60 ft number down and see how much more I can get out of it. It does have Drag radials and Magna-Flow exhaust. Last edited by southbayZL1; 07-20-2013 at 12:01 PM. |

Your car made a 11.5 run on drag radials with 653 rwhp? You had to be spinning or loosing something somewhere. My SS with KB 2.8 LC and 4in intake made 520 rwhp and did a 11.49

I was running with a 4.5" for the past 3yrs with the modification inside the tube as seen in the picture and its been running like a champ. Now i just bought a chrome intake and installed yesterday. I got p0172 and p0175 codes and idle feels like crap. The difference is the chrome one has the MAF right next to the filter. And yes one thing i hate is that it rubs the hell of the inside wall where the driver side front tire is. I think i might put the original black on back on. Its a daily driver and dont have time for headaches. Oh yeah and i 78,000 miles on kenne bell. So far its good for my needs, but now i want to start cranking up boost so we will see how it goes....

I bought it off someone here on camaro5. Didnt know sensor was in different spot until i already had taken off my tube. Only thing i was able to see different before install was that mine was modified for airflow and the one i bought was hollow all the way. So i just wanted to see what the difference would be. I will say one thing, not sure why but somehow my mpgs improved by 2mpgs while i had it on. I'll just take it to adam at ST Motorsports he made the tube that came with kit work. But that 4" tube idea does have me thinking....
