Vinyl racing & hockey stripes cheap looking

Ok, I have a gripe.

When I bought my car it came with vinyl racing stripes. They are NOT painted on they are just stickers! I couldn't believe it how a $30,000+ car would have such a cheap looking accessory.

Why couldn't GM paint the hockey & racing stripes on the car? I don't get it.

Leather "appointed" seats.
Chrome "cladded" wheels.
Etc...

Amazing what they put on close to $40K cars these days...

There are alot more expensive cars and trucks that have "stickers" applied to them. This is not a new concept.
I am sure you noticed this before you took delivery of the car and if you were not happy with the options it came with you should have ordered one WITHOUT the stripes than had them painted on either through the dealer or a shop of your choice.
If you are so unhappy with these, they are removable without any harm to the paint.

take them off and have them painted on, you'll find out why GM doesn't do it......

I have the matte black stripes, everyone seems to like them, and if I decide to change them down the road, I can..... not sure what you expect for 30k, a loaded malibu is almost 30......

PS... it's a Camaro. Do any cars come with factory painted stripes? Unlikely. Challengers, Camaros and Mustangs do not.

Furthermore, with the right care, The vinyl looks perfect. Mine are glossy and look painted but I spend more time taking care of my car then bitching about small details.

while some of you may still think vinyl looks cheap, you wouldnt believe how many different types, and brands there are. I work with this stuff all day long, if your stripe provider gave you some low dollar stuff it will definitely show, on the other hand there are some really nice vinyls, some have flake, and luster, I personally made my hood spears from reflective. Just be sure to ask questions about what type of vinyl you are purchasing, they range anywhere from crappy 2 year vinyl to hi performance vinyl that can last upwards of 7 years. Hope this helps anybody shopping for stuff.

Oh brother. Like vinyl stripes and decals is news? Geez, get serious.

Manufacturers have been doing this since the '60's.
