MAP sensor

Does the stock L99 have a single bar MAP sensor that needs changed out if going with forced induction?

Do you mean MAF Mass Air Flow?... and what exactly do you mean by forced induction?

No, I mean MAP...Manifold Absolute Pressure.

Typically LS engines have a 1 bar meaning they measure from full vacuum to atmospheric. A Supercharged Cobalt, for example, has like a 2 bar one to measure boost. many people, when tuning, decide to go without the MAF totally, and just use the MAP sensor for air estimates.

Let's say a turbocharger for sake of discussion....a Maggie might have that built-in.

OK... got it... I've heard of some replacing the MAF with aftermarket MAP. Not sure if there is a stock MAP sensor someplace else.

Well, I suspect it has both a MAF and a MAP from the factory.....The LS1 engines did. It's just that some folks do not MAF sensors and use the MAP solely.

I was just wondering if it needs swapped out for a boosted engine for the programming to work right.

Yes, you need to replace it (if you are L99 for sure, I can only comment on that)...I got rid of my 1 bar and added a 2 bar...my tuner said it would have been cool if they would have come with the ZR1 style 3 bar, but oh well.
