Front main seal leak - ATI balancer

So now discovered that my freshly built motor has a leak coming from the front main seal. I’ve got the ATI dampener I put on. Did I miss something and those need some special seal?? I was very careful to let the seal center itself before torquing down the front cover bolts. This even caused a bit of a step between the front cover and the block. But I did use RTV along with my oil pan gasket.

Not sure what went wrong here. Anyone else have this problem with the ATI balancer?

Is it possible you installed the seal backwards? If not the seal is easy to damage and needs to be installed dry no grease/oil on inner seal surface, no sealer on outer surface. If anything the finish on the ATI balancer is better than factory.

I definitely didn’t install it backwards. My 3rd LS build and I’ve never had any problems. I know they need to be installed dry too. I wonder if I somehow got some lubricant on there accidentally. It’s the only thing I can think of.
