Do you think its false triggering your knock sensors?

I wonder if there is a burn resistant pad we can put on the brace to dampen the impact of the pipes hitting against it

Whats the avg temp of the pipes where it would contact the brace? I have been looking at putting some F4 tape (hi temp silicone tape used in acft motors) on it to cushion them. Ill have to look into the temp ratings to be sure... If the pipe temps are within tolerance ill post up the info for the tape.... and how I wrapped it. Mind you it wont be pretty but it will help....

Here is a link to the tape for thoes with questions:
http://www.f4tape.com/aviation-tape.html

I used this stuff in C-130 motor housings for years and never had a problem with melting....

Well I'm going to make an attempt to try it tonight if I have enough light. I got an infrared temp gauge that I'm going to shoot at the exhaust first. If I like the temps that I see I'll be wrapping the brace with the f4 tape. If I can't get it done tonight I'll do it tomorrow morning. I'll try and remember to take pics as I go.

looking forward to the results.

i do have a feeling that the exhaust gas temperature at this location can get hot enough to melt that tape. it is only rated to an operating temp of 392F.

Thats what Im afraid of. But thats why Im going to take a temp reading of the specific area before I put anything on. I keep the Revs high on the way home (about 15-20 mins). Hopefully I can get my jack out to the car and up in the air fast enough for it not to cool down too much. But we shall see....

Ok so test after I got home put the area in question to about 110*... I'm letting it run ATM so I can see what idle temp will be....

115* at the cats... 105 at the brace.... During idle.... After a 30 sec rev to approx 2.1krpms temps were at 145 cats and 114 brace.... Not sure if the vehicle being under a load (moving) would affect it.... Any input?

Edit-
Once I hear back some input I'll make a decision on putting the silicon tape on the brace....

I'm thinking that a load will affect it but not much... especially with some airflow to knock the temps down a bit...

so maybe another 50 degrees at the most?
