Possibility getting stationed at Tinker AFB

Will find out in a couple of weeks if we're getting stationed at Tinker AFB. No better place to see ask what is a good neighborhood than my fellow Camaro family. I have never been to Ok and from Ca. Where would be a good place to live near Tinker, that my Camaro will be safe parking outside....I mean my family will enjoy and able to play outside.

It's Oklahoma / Oklahoma City. You don't have to worry about much at all except for tornadoes and the general weirdness of Okies.

In anticipation of your imminent PCS, welcome! We have an active and thriving Camaro community here in the metro. The safest place for your car is in a garage if you don't live in base housing. There area many areas of Midwest and Del City which are perfectly fine and others where you dare not go. Avoid anywhere along the NE 23rd St. corridor from the metro to Choctaw. Choctaw and Harrah are fairly safe. These are the closest communities to the base. There are many rural areas to the east that aren't influenced by the metro crime rates. I live in Edmond and have parked my ZL1 on the street in front of the house often without fear. I suggest searching for the Oklahoma Camaros group on Facebook. We have members from all over the metro who can provide even more guidance. Again, welcome and enjoy your time here.

I live in Midwest City (MWC) within a mile of the runway. raised 4 kids here and love this place. but it is my home, otherwise what else would I say!
Carl Albert schools are the best in MWC. great sports and music programs, very safe place!
leemozoid is bang on for the rest of town.
try Zillow for their assessment of the OKC area.

Welcome to OK!

SW OKC, south of SW 104th and between S Penn and S Western ave is a very nice area, in the Moore school district. We moved from Del City in 1992, and our daughter went to Westmoore HS and she really liked Moore schools. We have several military families in our neighborhood. Probably about 5 miles to TAFB from our area.
Good luck and thank you for your service!
Feel free to message me if you would like to chat about my area.
