But again, I am not buying the camaro for it's interior either. would that be a deal breaker for you? being that you are picky? Just a question.
Can't go by pre-production interior, even the Fbodfather was clear on that so I guess we'll have to wait and see. You're not buying it for the interior, I understand that but what Stover responded is what I was going to say, both matter to me cuz I'm the consumer and I'm investing hard earned money into a product I should believe in... which quality is the most important to me.

The Camaro coming out is the only car I'm interested in buying and it's within my price range (based on approx guesses) and fits my look. If the interior is shoddy or like a plastic toy that could deal-break me but it's way too early to say. The exterior is exactly how I wanted the Camaro, so now I wait for the interior.

But if I think about it... the deal breaker would be the seat, if it's not comfortable... then I'm not buying the car.. after all... I'll be in the car everyday and need to be comfortable.

p.s.- Nice mood lighting.

As I said before, when I'm talking about interior quality, I'm not talking about luxury items like power seats, heated cupholders, etc. I'm talking about things like tactile feel, gaps, sturdiness, and so forth. GM has lacked in these areas in the past, but have made gains recently. I think the benchmark I'm going for is Mazda (as I've said before). They're known for light-weight, sportiness, and affordability, just like the Camaro, but their interiors are solid and have a high-quality feel.

The problem with so many people here is that they've never sat in anything but old domestics so they don't realize that quality interiors can be had without paying more or adding weight.
Ok your right about the good materials vs bad material.
I personally think the Mustang Interior is made from very good material and it fits great, no gaps, and exposed screw holes. Plastic does not necisaraly make the interior bad. The Dash is a low glare material that covers an impact material for saftey, the silver is real brushed aluminum, and the dash being a textured plastic, the center console arm rest is a soft material Leather faux. the seats are not bad, there not Cadillac quality but I have sat in them for 8 hours driving back from Florida and I liked them, they were not bad but I have Leather. I do condition the leather every week because I know that they dry out in a car real fast.

Compaired to the last generation Mustang the S197 is a lot better. But what I am trying to say is I would rather have a High Quality plastic dash than a High Maintenance Leather or Faux leather dash that can rip and shrink in heat, it's alot eaiser to wipe the platic down when my buddy puts his shoe print in the dash. Sure I want a Good Quality Dash but I really don't care if it's plastic I actually perfer it. But Thats Just me.

I added tri color LED's to the inside of the MAP lights so it will match the "My Color Dash"

Yeah see that's what I'm looking for. Whether they use plastic, leather, or faux leather, I just hope they use a good grade material, something that won't rip, fade, or shrink and is easy to keep clean and in good condition. And what I've been saying is that many non-domestic companies use very nice plastics that are durable and slightly soft to the touch with a rich feeling texture. That is what I'm looking for. I'm just saying every plastic surface in my Cobalt is rock hard and has the texture of a dog's nose. It is probably my least favorite aspect of an otherwise very nice car.

Has anyone ever used a Katzkin interior. I've thought about using them to customize my Camaro. I'd get leather with a suede insert to keep me planted in the seat. You can even get a custom logo in the headrest or seat. I just don't know if it's a good product, never seen it in real life.

Wow! I didn't think that I was going to stir up this much discussion. stovt001, we are thinking on the same lines. I have two Mazdas and I think that the interiors in them are great. I have owned 2 BMWs previously and they have great interior qualities, granted you pay for them, but for the price, the Mazda6 and the CX-9 that I own have great interiors without feeling cheap.

The Mazda6 is not a luxury car but it has great feeling buttons, leather and plastics. I drove a Dodge Charger and I hated the plastics in that car and it turned me off. That and the slit of a window they call a windshield. Horrible visibility. This is the other reason that I would have never bought a Pontiac. All of the buttons and plastics felt like they came from Fisher-Price. Once they started sourcing the cars from Holden, then the interiors started to appeal to me. Much better quality than previous cars. Can't wait to get a look at the G8

If the interior of the Camaro is the quality of the Malibu, then I am all over it. I love the looks of the exterior of the Camaro and the interior of the concept (which I wish we could get as presented) looks great too, I just hope they don't screw it up. I would love to get one and customize it. And if they do mess with the interior, I may be forced to fully customize the interior as well.

Like the matching interior lights from the pix you posted...that and the in dash LCD Pioneer you added. Cool touch. Hope the 5th Gen allows for some good mods to the dash (if it isn't nice already!).

I used Tri Color Super Brite LED's inder the Dash and Standard Tri color LED in th e map lights, they are connected to a switch in the center console, I tapped into the My Color Dash Lights in the gauge cluster so that when I change the dash color the interor mood lights will change as well, so I get to choose from 125 defferent colors depending on my mood.

I know what you mean, My Silverado had no place to add a nice Nav system because of the odd sized 5/8 Din opening no one makes an aftermarket for it.
so I hope the Camaro has a double Din opening

Absolutely. I would not want a leather dashboard under any circumstances. Plastic is the only way to go. Can you imagine if you put a small scratch or puncture in your leather dashboard, and how much that would cost to repair? In fact, I would go without some features if I had to choose a cheaper interior package, just to avoid a leather interior. Except leather seats, of course...those are mandatory

See? Now that would be neat to do. You could have them regular old white if you wished, then go to blue for that cold look, or red for the warm look, etc,...green if you're feelin' lucky...lol. That's a kind of mod I'd do for the simple looks. I would never do it in my 4th Gen w/ the older interior. The interior would have to really shine and stand out for me to want to add to it. But, it looks good in your Stang. Nice work.
