130 trap speeds???

Ok, what would it take to get an auto ZL1 to trap in the upper 120's low 130's money wise and mods? Not a hero run but pretty consistent. Im not trying to start crap but just really wanna know for other reasons.

My knee is acting up again and im looking into cars that have an automatic option. I hope it gets better and I don't have to give up the GT500 just yet. With a total of around 4k in mods plus borrowed slicks and skinnies its in the mid 10's and 134-135 trap speeds. Wish it had an automatic but oh well. I was actually looking at the ZL1's before I got the 2012 GT500. Im not a road racer and pretty much drag race only so I went for the damn good deal I got on the 2012 GT500 when the 2013 GT500's came out.

I fully expect to be @ 138 to 142 with my mods if I had a frickin race track around here...I would expect you would need to spend 6K...

I would think a stall and some nitrous would get you rather close on the cheap. Sadly your not going to match the power/mph you currently have for the same amount of money.

Here is one of our CTS-V's that we built going 10.8@127mph with real basic mods...

http://youtu.be/4Db-g-FYKOA

Without the front mount HX that this car has installed, this package is under $4k installed and tuned!

I think we got spoiled with the ease of launching the 392s, with a knee issue it would be a plus to be in an automatic. Do you think SRT will come across with the SC 6.2L, might want to wait for that. I'm with you though the ZL1 with an automatic is interesting, I watched Stephen12ZL1 run consistant low 11s a few months back, it really looked smooth off the line.

Can a Whipple 2.9 be mounted to the LSA? I think that would be the ticket rather than going internal. I though that Jannetty was doing something along these lines awhile back. There is a member here named GMRULZ who has a 10SS automatic with a Whipple / Headers /Tune and I watched him tear off effortless 10:80s on the stock converter, the LSA should be stronger.

Throwing a whipple on these LSA's to run high 120 low 130 MPH trap speeds is overkill. We run high 130's still on the stock blower with no spray and 93 octane.

Definitely would not throw the bottle on it. Ill most likely be keeping the GT500 for another year but after that, im going automatic again. By then I bet there will be some good deals on 2012-2013 ZL1's plus possibly other options as well. My knee is 70% the reason I would go automatic again but the other 30% is that I just never liked manuals to begin with. I can shift like a MoFo and lauch good but it gets old sometimes. If im in the 10's at 130 I will be happy. Doesn't seem like it would be very hard at all to get that out of the auto ZL1. Plus who knows what is around the corner in 2015-2016.

This ones got 21k miles on it......Quite a bit for a 2013.....

this vid is like 10.7@130. he did a full blower port but not a ton into this car.

cai, porting, pulley, tune, HX.

there are quite a few ways to attack the power on this car. you can do more the of the bolt on approach as well.

10% lower, 2.5 upper, ported snout, cai, tune, injectors, Ported TB might get you right in that range. Cam and headers would just guaranty it.

I would think $5k spend correclty would get you there.

The skinnys up front are definitely helping that cars MPH however that is now just more money spent to go that far... 2.5 with a 10% lower is not needed to get into the 10's or high 120 mph range as demonstrated in the link I put up.
The car in that vid has just a 2.5 upper, stock blower with a ported snout and TB, injectors, tuning and HX with factory tires up front and just a set of ET streets on 18's out back.

Remove the HX from that car and you are looking at a sub 4k dollar package that we replicate many times.

not needed to get into the 10's but if you want to trap in the 130's garantied they don't hurt either. Him being in florida and some high ambients at times I though an HX might be a decent mod.

almost all cars I have seen trapping in the 130's have had both pullies. high 120's though obviouly not required.
