Are Dodge trucks still junk?

Now I think (I hope) everyone will acknowledge that back in the mid-90's, Dodge had major powertrain issues for quite a few years.

I'm thinking that they fixed that towards the end of the 90's / early 2000's, and that their trucks are not too bad going into the mid 2000's.

Reason for asking: I'll likely be looking for something to replace my 2001 F150. I was eyeballing a few 2004-2006 Ram's on Craigslist....but while I like the styling of the Rams the most of the big three domestic truck lines, I am a little worried about their reliability, mostly due to all the issues they previously had.

My second choice will probably be a 2004 - 2006 F150, as both of the F150's that I've had have been solid as rocks, and I've got a comfort level there. I haven't taken Chevy off of the list completely, as I know their powertrains are also pretty bulletproof - I'm just not wild about the styling.

Thanks!

Yea the 2004-06 rams weren't the best option. They have gotten slightly better from then but I honestly wouldn't buy a new Ram. I personally am a fan of the Silverado/Siera the most

Lmao. Not true at all. I own 3 of them. A half ton hemi. And 2 2500s. 1 hemi and 1 cummins. Best trucks I've ever owned. Far surpasses ford in every margin. If you thought that ford was a good truck a dodge is leaps and bounds ahead of it. They ride way better have more power for pulling and towing and are far more reliable. I have 10 fords the 3 dodges and 3 Chevys for a big lawncare company. The fords are always in the shop for stupid little things. The 1500 dodge had 103k on it before it needed anything and that was just a ujoint.

Beg to differ. If the car was built when Chrysler was under Daimler, then it's crap.

I have two buddies that have them. One is a 2004 2500 and the other a 2004 1500 both with the hemi. Neither one has had any mechanical issues, but both of the bedsides rotted out after 4 years. They are nice trucks, but I prefer gm's.

Quality of the Rams started going up in 2009. They get nicer every year.

Look at reliability ratings for a 2004 Ram, F150, and Silverado/Sierra. There's no way that the Dodge is anywhere near the others.

2009+ rams...awesome trucks. In terms of brand new trucks, I don't give a flying rats ass what anyone says...they are all good capable trucks. I'd pick the Ram b/c the styling and cabin are beautiful.

As for the 2004 - 2006 Rams. I had a 2005 Ram, but with low mileage and only had it a few years so I had no issues, but compared to Ford and Chevy I'd say they had more issues. (at least speaking about the gas models)

If you want diesel...The dodge will be great.

You might want to get on a Dodge Ram forum and ask people who actually drive these Dodge trucks about their quality. Here on C5 you will just hear people letting out hot air about Dodge trucks without knowing a single fact just because they are diehard Chevy fans.

I have a 2004 Ram1500 w/Hemi and it still drives like new at 63,000 miles.
