I don't think so, the bimmer is significantly lighter and when its twin turbo spools up, it really moves. Not to mention german vehicles have always been known for their sick top end.

I see the 335i runs mid-low 13s with speeds ranging from 102mph-108mph...
Don't know how accurate my numbers are, but that's pretty close to the Camaro.... Maybe it would be much closer than I think... Then again throw in a TT in the camaro and we'll see who's hauling

Or you can give the 335 a v8, oh wait, thats the bmw m3....

And the 335i is a very mod friendly car, with a tune and downpipe, they can run high 11s. We're talking 80 hp to the wheels from just those 2.

If you want an unbiased response, this is not the place to get it. The best way to get the answer is to do the research yourself honestly.

I will say that they are both close in price proximity. The SS has a 6.2 V8, and is around the 422 hp range. On the other hand, the 335 has a inline 6, which happens to be twin turbocharged, and pumps out 300hp and 300 pounds of torque. So the SS get's the horsepower advantage. However, when it comes to the weight perspective, the SS loses. The 335 is considerably less in weight than the SS.

So if you are looking for a straight line race, the SS should have it off the line, and for a little bit...I am not talking about my bus lengths though. Once you start getting into the higher end of speeds, the 335 should easily make up the ground. Remember, the SS is not some sleek German sports car. It is boxy and in my personal opinion, not very aerodynamic. Where as, the 335 is everything the SS is not in this area. Mind you, limiters on cars mean absolutely nothing, because once they are taken off, it is a whole different story. It also comes all down to the driver.

As far as road racing. The 335 will own the SS. BMW specializes in this category. Simple as that.

Looks wise, I would say the 335. If you'd like, I could post up some sick pictures of the 335.

Now, the great debate... a lot of people will talk about engine size, and then go "Well, if my car had this or that.." The SS like I previously stated, has a 6.2 V8, compared to the 3.0 inline v6 the 335 has. That is 3.2 more liters the SS has than the 335. That is twice the size 335's engine. The argument can be used in favor of the 335 as well...because if the 335 had another 3.2 liters what would happen then? So those kind of arguments are truly ridiculous in my opinion.

I also noticed a few posts were talking about how if the SS were supercharged, it would eat most cars...well, that depends on what it is going up against.

I also noticed the m3 vs vette race being talked about...well that depends again. Which vette? I have seen the M3 run 12.4's-12.6 second 1/4ths stock. Remember, the M3 has a 4.0 v8. The vette is running in the 6.0+ liter area.

BMW's are very mod friendly. They respond very well to basic bolt on's, chips, and tunes. However, once you start putting TT kits, and supercharger kits onto them, it becomes very expensive.

I hope my little write up enlightened you on a few things.

I have an L99 and like I said, I encountered a 335i yesterday trying to cut me off. He stayed with me up until about 60~mph, then I started pulling away...

Again if we compare the M3 ($60,000) to the Corvette Grand Sport ($53,000~) I still think the Grand Sport would take the win. It has more displacement than the M3. At 3,300lbs weighs just a little more than the 3,200lbs M3. I found that the Grand Sport also runs 1/4 at around 12.4, so don't know would be an interesting close race I think!

But yes, I think the M3 is an awesome car and would love to own one, but then again I love American muscle.... To each his own! I'd buy a used z06 before i'd buy a new m3! And man are those z06s fast!
You also don't know if the other driver were even trying. Trust me on this one, the 335 would take the SS in the top end. That's just I have seen vettes get behind in the lower end, but come flying right past cars on the top end.

Only one real American muscle car I love anymore, and that would be the Shelby GT500. Besides that, I would rather have either a BMW or an Audi.

You also have to consider, was he driving manual? Because he could of missed a gear, was it actually a 335? and not a 328 that was rebadged? There are way too many variables for you to actually really know.

You've got to be kidding me. We could just point you to the SEMA show threads with all those Camaros if you want to compare sick pictures.

It's called personal opinion. I like the 335 looks better, and you like the SS looks better.

Missed a gear? I was waiting for that excuse! A 328? Puuuuhhhhllleeeaasee! The SS would have smoked that thing. The 328 has what 230hp?

I know car mag racing isn't the greatest, but C&D got 27.1 seconds for the 335 to reach 140 versus 22.3 for the Camaro with the LS3. So much for that top end argument...

You are right, and you are posting your opinion on looks on a Camaro forum too so don't expect many of us to agree with that. Besides, I'm not sure the OP was looking for an unbiased review on looks.
