Headers, now problems.
I did header install yesterday and I removed the steering knuckle. Needless to say it was a FUBAR move. I am pretty sure, thanks to a couple members here on this forum, that I have most likely broke the clock spring. This is causing the
Service airbag light and most likely the service stabilitrak. Traction control stays off. So I have both of those lights on as well, along with the CEL light. Whick is definitely from not having rear 02's. I checked all wires and plugs(did not replace) they look fine. Will later in the week. Will a cracked plug or fouled wire cause a stabilitrak light? I hooked up code reader and these are the EIGHT I am showing. Car has no rear 02's and has not been tuned yet. Is this normal after header install? POO36 P0054 P0060 P0140 P0141 P0160 P0161 Thanks for the help in advance. |

Yeah...... if you remove the knuckle you have to hold the wheel in place with tape or steering wheel holder. That sucks

Took off steering wheel. Bought new clock spring because the other one is definitely FUBAR.
Put new clock spring on and service air bag is gone and CEL light. Service Stabilitrak was off for about 3 minutes and it came back on along with the TC light off. Hoping a tune can take of this. I will replace the wires and plugs after Tune. Which leads me to my next question. I am about 2 hours from Phil at Tampa Tuning but, not sure I want to drive that far with car untuned. Who has the best basic Mail order Tune or handheld tune? Last edited by frack; 02-07-2015 at 01:44 PM. |

If the Stabilitrac light is coming on because of a cracked plug or loose wire, shouldn't the car be throwing a code for a misfire? These codes I pulled yesterday are all from not having the rear 02's from what the code list suggests.
P0036 - HO2S Heater control Circuit Bank 1 (sensor 2) P0054 - Not sure, I believe these suggest the same 02's not being detected P0056 - HO2S Heater control Circuit Bank 2 (sensor 2) P0060 - Not sure, I believe these suggest the same 02's not being detected. P0140 - 02 sensor no activity detected bank 1 (sensor 2) P0161 - 02 sensor heater circuit (bank 2 sensor 2) |

So hooked programmer up to check codes. Its only throwing the 6 you see up above in previous post. Also I just started car and the stabilitrak and tc lights were not showing while car was in neutral. As soon as I turned the wheel to the right the service stabilitrak lights and tc off lights came on. So either the steering angle sensor is no good or it needs to be reprogrammed?

The clock spring/steering wheel sensor may have to go to the dealer. Ted.

Ok so car is tuned. 2 days no CEL light and then today it came on. I put the code reader on and it reads P0054. Does anyone know what code this is? It is not listed above.

O2 heater resistance, bank 1 sensor 2. Your tuner forgot to disable ALL the codes for the rear O2s.

You can drive it to Phil untuned, if all your doing is headers.

Have an appointment at the Chevy Dealer in the morning. They are going to reset the steering angle sensor. I replaced the clock spring and the airbag works, but service stabilitrak light comes on if I turn wheel to the right more than 3/4 of a turn. Also there still is a strange noise or grinding just before the light comes on. Almost like the steering knuckle or something in the steering is catching something. Me and my friends have checked 100 times and there is absolutely no way the knuckle or any part of the steering column is touching anything. The noise is there and you kinda of feel it resonate through the brake pedal. I got underneath car and checked for anything that might be binding or catching something. Even check the drive shaft. NOTHING.
THIS WILL ONLY HAPPEN AFTER THE CAR SITS FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THERE IS NO SERVICE STABILITRAK OR TC LIGHTS ON. Back out and turn wheel almost 3/4 of a turn and you will feel(hear) this grind. Then it stops even if you pull forward and back up again it will not repeat. Pull forward with straight shut car down for 3 minutes and it will repeat!!!! Anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I am hoping this just related to the clockspring and angle sensor. |

Is what happened to Tyler: definitely take it in for the front cover leak. just before my engine went i started hearing what sounded almost like a heat shield rattling that grew into a chatter was really bad at around 1500 rpm but seemed to get better under load
