I don't really like the idea of taking apart my car to add a GPS antenna. I'm going to see if splitting the one antenna will do the trick. I don't see how this can do any harm to the vehicle. I think worse case it might break the Onstar module. I'll let you know how it goes.

Didn't work because one of the Fakra connectors doesn't fit. Going to keep looking for a 2011 LG module.

So I've read thru mostly this entire thread, and first off wanted to say thanks for the info. I'm the new owner of a 2011 LS (about 3 weeks now) and 1 thing I was really bummed to see that I didn't have was Bluetooth ability for my iPhone. I'm always using my phone and it's such a hassle not to have bt while driving a stick.

One question of mine that never got answered in this topic was what are the advantages to having the steering wheel controls?
Or to phrase it a different way... What won't I be able to do since I do not have the steering wheel controls?

Congrats on your new Camaro! I added the OEM leather steering wheel with audio controls. My controls won't work untill I do a BCM update which i found out is a huge pain in the ass to get done. I've heard that the BT button on the wheel activates the voice dialing function of your cell phone. I have my iPhone paired but I have to hold down the home button on the phone to activate voice dialing which is annoying. When a call comes in I push the menu button on the stereo to answer. I cannot access my contacts list from BT which annoys me to. You can do this on the 2012 though.

Thank you! Haha.

So basically even without the steering wheel controls I'll be able to answer calls just by pushing a button on the radio, but if I wanted to make an outgoing call I actually have to hold the home button on my phone and then I'll be able to talk thru the speakers?

And also what's the bcm update your talking about? Is that the module?

Well you can dial a call thru the stereo but it won't allow you to do this while the vehicle is moving. The BCM is the Body Control Module which controls which options your car has. When the dealer updates the BCM, with a Tech2 tool I believe, he can activate the steering wheel control option. Finding a dealer that is willing to do this is very difficult. In hindsight I would have paid extra for the C & C package because saving $1,800 was not worth the headache.

Talking Factory Bluetooth in my 2010 1SS

Got my new on-star unit today from e-bay. Bought the antenna from local dealer $34. 10 minutes for me to install and then pair phone and it works perfect. Waiting to get the on-star reprogrammed for the car till spring. Will also get the dealer to update the BCM so the steering wheel controls I installed will work.

Thanks to everyone in the group for all the legwork that made it easy for me to get this done.

Only wish I had found the info before I bought a factory radio out of a 2SS thinking that was what I needed to get the bluetooth.

anyone interested in a 2SS radio.......

Is the 2SS PDIM ready? I installed my PDIM but can't get any dealerships to flash my radio. They keep telling me that they won't touch it unless I bought the part from them.

Would changing the Onstar module also work for getting the GM remote start that is added at dealer to work on Onstar Mylink?

This part will work if I switch out my OnStar module currently in my LS to this one right? Than I just need to go to a dealer and have them order me an antenna for it? I aready put in the steerign wheel controls, ordered the PDIM, and am waiting to get the $$ to buy this module so I can run bluetooth. I more want bluetooth for my iPhone/iPad music than calling.
