Axle replacement question

I had a littlw too much fun one night with my supercharged ss and snapped the right rear axle. I got everything taken out just fine, but when putting it back together, i cant get the wheel hub/bearing assembly to bolt back on to the knuckle. Its not sitting against or close enough to the knuckle to start the threads on the 3 bolts that hold it together. Anyone have any ideas or tips?

I have never had any luck bolting the hub up with the axle already in the hole. When I pull an axle, I disconnect the UCA, toe rod (make sure you pop out the ABS sensors) and trailing arm. I pop the end of the axle with a rubber mallet and then pull the knuckle forward/down until I can get the axle to come out. You have to push down on the knuckle pretty good to get enough room to get that axle out. Reverse that process to put one in.

In your case I would unhook the three connections I mentioned, bolt the hub in, and then push down on the knuckle until you get enough room to get the tip of the axle to go in the hole. You will need to push in on the axle and bend the outer CV down into the hole to get the job done.

Good morning all. Turns out I'm just a dumb ass and accidentally ordered the wrong axle. I ordered the drivers side instead of the passenger side, and there is maybe a 5mm difference in compressed length on the axles. After I figure out my mistake, the new axle fit properly and I was able to bolt the hub to the knuckle without any issues.

The moral of the story, is double check your part #s.
