Conflicted 1ss vs 2ss and Hot wheels in a far 3rd

So, I'm stalking my dealership almost ready to pull the trigger on a 1LE
Tough times right now,
-No good incentives
-19's right around the corner
-1ss vs 2ss
Just not sure if the 2 ss is worth the money, what I like about the 2ss
Heated seats/steering wheel
Stereo (even though I haven't compared the 2 yet)
added rarity
The wife really likes the Hot Wheel camaro, and I can't deny it's pretty cool and fun and rare (I hate having what everyone else has) Like the interior color also...but well it's not a 1LE but it definitely doesn't suck
The only thing that I don't like about the 1LE is the rubber, replacing those tires in a year or less but man do they look good!!

Is the stereo that much better in the 2ss?
are the interior colored lights that much fun?
Hopefully Friday brings some kind of incentive, better rates at least

Get the 2SS. You're just gonna regret it if you don't.

I wouldn’t say that is completely accurate. I went from my 2016 2SS A8 to my 2018 1SS 1LE. I don’t regret that decision one bit. Especially now that these cars have android auto and Apple CarPlay. There are small creature comforts that you lose but, frankly, I’m not that haughty so, missing out on a few amenities for the sake of having a tremendously well handling vehicle completely out weighed the perceived losses.

No need for heated seats/wheel on a car equipped with tires you can't use in the cold.

All kidding aside, if you can get a 2SS 1LE, why not?
Expand your search, you may find better deals a little further from home.

I personally have no use for the heated or memory bits, I'm the only driver and it lives in my garage.
The blindspot and parking system is fine I guess, but not something I would ever miss.
The interior lighting?
Meh. The simple light around the 1SS infotainment screen and overhead console light are annoying enough for me, I don't think I would care for the light bars on the doors added on as well.

I think the stereo would be the only thing I would really want, the 1SS system is just ok, so any improvement would be welcome.

So for me a $5,000 to $7,000 premium for just a little better stereo wasn't worth it.

I'm probably missing something but you get the idea.

Oh yeah, I'm not thrilled with the lack of tire choices, just hoping the selection expands some.

I think your right, unless a great deal on a 2ss comes my way I don't know if its worth the extra money
Just looking quickly on Crutchfield speaker swaps are not expensive, fronts are not an easy swap (again quick look)
Mag ride, exhaust, and Recaros are my top picks and they all come in the 1ss
However, down the line I think the 2SS is going to be very hard to find on the used market, but don't know if that will play into anything anyways

Having got the 2SS, I couldn't imagine driving this thing without the blindspot indicator. Visibility out of these cars are ridiculous. Sure you get used to it after a while but the first few weeks/months cannot be pleasant! And the sunroof!
Everything else on the 2SS is just alright

1SS in the 1LE is perfect you get all the important stuff , the 2ss you get a minor bump in audio sound quality (some people hate bose) heated and cooled seats ( you can barely feel the cool function), and safe lane change alert/blind spot monitoring ( your in a performance sport car do you need this?)

Are you going to track it? If no id skip the 1le. If yes it's a no brainer..get the 1ss unless you need a sunroof.. keep in mind they limit headroom for a helmet.

I went through this same decision when I purchased my 2017 1SS 11 months ago. After owning my 1SS for 11 months, and putting a few thousand miles on her, it was just what I expected. I would like leather, for the look of it, and I wouldn’t mind the stereo upgrade, but that’s it. Those reasons aren’t enough for me to regret anything, and I love the deal I got on this one with the A8 and NPP.

That being said, when it’s time to trade up in a couple of years, I’ll see if I can get a good deal on a 2SS for the leather and stereo. If I can, then I’ll grab one, if they are trying to gouge the price on it, then I’ll be happy with another 1SS.

PS: People need to stop with the “blind spot” nonsense! I seriously can’t even stand reading about it at this point. I’ve owned 8 different sports/muscle cars, and the 6th gen is not much different blind spot-wise. Seriously, we are supposed to be auto enthusiasts in here. Use your mirrors PROPERLY and look over your shoulder and there is NO NEED for anything other than the standard back up camera.

BTW: The back up camera is a Godsend!

If you’re going to track often, get the 1LE, otherwise do the Hot Wheels as your time is really close to being up on ordering one (if not already). The SS is a very capable and versatile car. If you want to get a similar feel to the 1LE, either get MRC and install the GM 1LE part upgrade or get a non-MRC and order the GM lowering kit (either can be ordered with the car and installed by the dealer under full warranty).

I LOVE the 1LE, but if youre not going to use it’s equipment, get an SS. The 2SS 1LE isnt much over the 1SS, its nice GM offers it, but I don’t think it’s worth it 9/10 times.
