Just before I took delivery the dealer had me drive it around a few miles. We stopped at a station where he filled it. Hendrick Chevy, Cary, NC.

In June 1979, I took delivery of a Mercury Capri in Bay Shore N.Y. After leaving the dealer I went right to a line at a station where I waited 2 hours to fill up. Not a good time that day, and I never patronized the dealership for anything again.

I told my dealer if they weren't going to fill it up with the required 91 or 93 not to fill it up at all. They filled it with 87 anyway. Should have made them pump it out.

When I test drove the car it was nearly empty and afterwards I asked if they were going to fill it up. Salesman and I went on another ride after signing most of the paperwork to do the Onstar call and get gas, and he put a half tank of premium in.

That's been the least of my issues with this dealership, so I haven't pressed the issue. Crazy to think that GM pays them for a full tank and they would try and keep that from the customer to skim a little more profit. I really hope that isn't the case.

Oh well, I got a good deal on the car during the 20% off promo and am loving the car!

I bought my Camaro in Pahrump Nevada, I got a full tank cause its out in the middle of nowhere.

Best i got was 1/4 on all new cars i've gotten. Mainly why i don't give a down.

Its for the best, they just put 87 on an SS and you will need to do fuse pull.

The only time I ever got a full tank was on a used 2000 Lightning. Funny I wound up bringing that vehicle back for my old truck because it had some issues that didn't arise on the test drive. The rest of my vehicles I got nothing although I've never actually bought a brand new vehicle. Closest to new has 1,100 miles on it and when I asked if they where going to fill it the salesman said the gas station was right down the road, LOL!

Oh well, I'd rather fill it myself then I know what I'm getting, heh.

For the record, dealers aren't required to fill the car. Good dealers do as a courtesy however.
