I pre-ordered my 2010 way back in November of 2008. Order went in March 2009 and was delivered June 2009.

No, we have a dealer by me that had over 30 Camaros on the lot at the time and I was able to sit in and drive them until I found the exact configuration that I wanted.

Indeed, incentives may still apply, the dealer may want to close the sale to meet their quota and be willing to give up some profit etc.

There is something truly special about a car being built just for you. Sure, one has to give up some haggling room and be ready to wait 6-8 weeks at least... sure we aren't talking Koenigsegg here, but simply tucking the order workbench printout in a folder, trawling the internets for bits of info here and there, keeping up with the order status, counting the days in anticipation, then getting the call from the dealer and entering the car for the first time is a journey I managed to thoroughly enjoy.

Yep. Tracking the order was a great experience and knowing pick up day just makes everything worth it. You go there knowing you’re going to be driving your new car home. Instead of going there hoping the deal could be closed and driving one off the lot.

Yes, only way to get exactly what I wanted. I've also ordered a '76 Buick Regal, an '80 K5 Blazer, and an '83 Suburban. The rest have been off the lot.

I did too! My 1st time ordering a car - got it just the way I wanted it, it was made specifically for me & had a great experience! Would definitely do it again! (with the right dealer)

I did not order mine. I luckily found my car a a local dealer and was able to work a great deal with them.

Yes, no way in hell I was going to buy an auto (not that they even offer a 1LE that way), main thing being ordering=exactly what you want. It's great if you can find what you want at a dealer, but I'm usually looking for something specific with specific features/options.
