IROC returning at SEMA?
Havent seen anyone mention this as its been popping up all over Camaro Facebook groups for last couple of days now. Appears 6LED Designs bought the rights to the name. Looks like the car would cost a pretty penny though if legit. Anyone know anything about it?

It's not. 6LE posted a while back that they had bought the rights to the name IROC-Z after it lapsed at GM. To that end, they would bring out their own iteration under that moniker.

Man, they REALLY want it to be better than a ZL1 1LE. Lets see it in person, but based off of what traditionally shows up at SEMA..it is either going to be really cool, or really ugly. Never seems to be an in between with SEMA cars.

Ehhh...don't have a good feeling. Lots of the "widebody" stuff at SEMA is just WAY overdone for most people's taste. yet they want this care to be a ZL1-1LE killer. Lets see.

I like the idea of a full glass roof though.

I already like the image above better than those "dive planes". I don't care if they are functional, if those showed up on a Mustang we would all be laughing at them.

Yeah and there's been a bunch of.. well.. idiocy in some of those online groups as well with regard to "facts" about the powerplant.. And someone posted some link to a "source" that quoted out a 5.7L motor.. /sigh
Will reserve judgement until I see the final product, the price and the performance. some people are claiming it's only 49,000 -- which, I find laughable with list of parts.. Maybe 49,000 over the cost of a Camaro SS.. |

This is going to be gaudy and overdone going by that picture...but I have seen a picture of the actual wheels, and they actually looked really good if that is indeed them.

I know a lot of people like SEMA and all the aftermarket stuff, which from my perspective the performance parts are fine, but I can't stand all the aftermarket body add ons. It's just my opinion for all of you who are into the Batmobile look but I can't stand it. I like the look of factory original, clean, straight cars.
Engine/brake/suspension/transmission upgrades are cool, I just hate all the wild colors and plastic body parts. |

Another modified Camaro with the name IROC-Z, Ok LOL. I get the whole Trans Am type thing that was done already but unless my car is produced and manufactured by GM stating its a Z, then its not a Z in reality. Not my cup of tea.... Pass!

modifying cars is why the pony car exists. They were under-powered or under-engineered in various areas so they could be accessible to poorer people and then could be built up to be awesome by those who had the money and/or skill to do so and embarrass more expensive cars on the road and on the track (usually just the straight ones though).
Whether it's the outside or the inside. If you're not modifying your car in some way then in my mind, i dont know why you bought a camaro. At the same time though, these latest generations of camaro aren't really following the spirit of pony cars anymore. They're too expensive because they're too good and so modifications have less applicability. Unfortunately, selling cars that dont compete with the market just to make them cheaper doesn't work for the demographics that would buy them anymore it seems. And i guess that attracts a different kind of buyer that just wants to lease and keep everything the way it is. meh. |
