Times down the road always improve about half second over what people get initially. Track conditions, familiarity with the car, different drivers and break in etc all play a part.

Remember for a couple months when the SS came out the best time was a 13.0. Now it is a 12.5.

I would expect high 11's to be possible bone stock with traps around 120 when it is all said and done.

Again, sorry on the typo guys. Maybe it was a hp-freudian thing. This bone stock ZL1 made 467 rwhp thru the factory auto with less than 200 miles on the motor. The owner put 93 octane fuel in the car after taking delivery and BEFORE dyno testing. However, we have seen many cars get delivered from dealers in the past where they had a lower octane fuel. My guys did not see any knock on the dyno. But somehow I have a feeling that there may have been some residual fuel in the tank that may have been a lower grade. Not making any excuses for the car or the numbers. Just trying to give you my gut feeling why the power seems about 15-20 rwhp low and the trap speed is a couple of mph slower than I would have expected.

The owner is going to drive the car over the weekend and we will re-dyno and re-test on the 1/4 mile on Monday. Check back on Monday and let's see what she runs then. Thanks.

Guys this is one test from a 200mile car with no other cars on the track that have known times to compare track conditions with. My how quickly we turn. I'm sure this car has more in it. And really, that's a lot faster than many Ls3's and SRT8s are running. While there are a few that run those numbers, it isn't many.

This one test won't stop me from wanting one. It makes me want one more.

Yea.. while this time isn't the greatest, it's ONE time in less than ideal conditions. Let them (and others) get multiple passes in before even thinking about making conclusions. I still have high hopes for better times.

Guarantee the dealer put 93 in. Jerry followed this one closely right off the truck. The trap speed indicates a couple tenths lower are in the bag... Toss in some DR's and a 1.8X 60' and we're in there. It's way early to get all crazy about the first run.

Its all good. I know of at least a couple ZL1's that may be some how a lot faster than normal once they are in their owners garages....
The tooth fairy has a buddy..The horsepower gnome..He is known to lurk in many shops and garages at night secretly upping the ante on the stock appearing sleeping beasties....

Looks like I'm not worried about the ZL1. I'm pretty disappointed.

More track runs on Monday don't look promising for us. Good chance for heavy rains and 80% humidity.

While not impressive, the conditions are not ideal. 12.5 is about what I expected out of the average joe that's been to the track before. If you are afraid to break it, you give up a little. Then you give up a little for it being fresh, and a little based on the weather. 1700 DA is not a great day, but it's not a bad one either. I raced lots of times in 4500-5500 DA. It gets pretty depressing for N/A cars, and low boost blower cars.
Somebody who owns one with a couple thousand miles should be able to pull 12.3's on a decent day. This is where the 4000lbs rears it's ugly head though...

Relax guys. The car is still badass. A lot of people have been building this car up in their mind as the 2nd coming. Sadly anyone who has tried to bring balance to the force have been crucified. It will be OK. Modifications will come just like on the SS.

Thanks to John and the guys at Hennessey for sharing the data, don't forget this is a low mile car and there are many factors that affect its perfomance.
P.S our manual car scaled 4064 lbs, full of fluids with no driver.

Graham.

I still think there are good runs for the conditions ... I wouldn't panic at all ... there will be more runs by more people and we will see where everything is at ..
