Thanks!
Thank you all. This is an amazing car. I feel very fortunate to have it! All my local dealers that thought they were getting allocation late last year sadly did not (I believe only 2 2012s were coming to Utah) and so I trusted my gut and sought out Bob Ostapovich with Van Chevrolet in Scottsdale, AZ who has done an amazing job getting me into his first allocation.
Today I had the windows tinted with Solar Gard films, also had my Escort 9500ix Radar Detector hard wired, and put VentureShield 3M paint protection film over the bumper and entire front clip back to the doors, which is a love hate thing that I have gone back an forth on doing. In the end you cannot see the lines as the group that did it is the best in the state and makes it so the paint protection film is wrapped around all edges so there are no lines. We have major road construction going on so I do not want to have any chips like I have on my other vehicles but at the same time it is hard to cover that nice paint with anything. I can always pull off the Clear Bra though and it is easier then doing a repaint and it still looks great. I did also cover the Matte black carbon fiber hood insert with it and it actually looks great although now it is glossy. (By the way the carbon fiber hood insert removal was more involved then one would think.) We removed the hood insert to better wrap the protection film around it to not show any edges. Also regarding the footwell and cupholder light option. I originally hoped that it would be installed at the factory but it was not and is a dealer installed option. My local dealer that did the courtesy delivery for me would have done it however I trust my interior wiring guys to do it right as the local dealer had not done a light kit before. This again was very involved as it required removing the entire center pedestal section to get access under the cupholders. (Hard to do on a new car like this). But like I expected my local experts did it quickly and very clean and I have to say it is one of my favorite options, the colors match the interior instrumentation lights perfectly and gives it a very classy look. It gives you two settings for the blue (one dim and one more bright) and two settings for the red. It lights up the footwell area and also the cupholders. By the way did you all know the ZL1 has a light blue subtle light in the door panels that looks amazing and comes standard. |

Thanks!
Picture of the footwell lit up. And yes the kid includes both left and right footwells and the cup holders. It comes as GM Parts with wiring harnesses etc and really good instructions. A bit grainy in this image but very impressive at night. It improves the night feel of the car dramatically. I light lights and buttons though again because of my dayjob. Also notice the seat stitching. I have been told that this was very well thought out for maximum wear. Again well done GM/Chevy!
Also I think that the radio is great and I have now changed my mind on wanting the touch screen. I think the fit and finish and classy but simple design of the 2012 radio is the perfect fit for this Muscle Car. Even if the touch screen was included I think I like the look of this screen better for this type of vehicle. In my Honda Odyssey Touring, yes I want the large Nav screen and entertainment package and GPS. In this car I like that it is clean and timeless. What is cool today for these 2012s I believe will still be cool in 20, 30 and 40 years from now as screen technology changes and evolves. I am going to start another thread because I have some questions about your 9500ix install that I hope a few others will respond to, so if you would, look for and jump into that thread with some feedback!

Your right in line with my idea on options, mine is setup the exactly the same way, window tint 30 percent, under dash & cup lighting, clear bra, polished wheels, sun roof, Simonz coating. The car is at the dealers getting the options installed, I will pick her up Friday and post some pics. Thanks for sharing your pics, I will have some detailing to do in the engine bay cause yours looks so awesome...

Out of all the colors I've seen this car in, this by far looks the best. And believe me, I am not a fan of black, I may have to reconsider if I buy one.
