BBOMG 2011 Caravan

Is anyone interested in a caravan to BBOMG. I was thinking about meeting up with SEPA around 930 on Thursday. It is about a 3 hour drive from my home. Wanted to know if anyone wanted to start our own caravan or cruise up with us to meet the people in Pa.

Click the link in my signature... I've been asked by Hylton to head this up since I put together an spear headed a 80+ car caravan to C5fest last year with complete success! In the coming months I will be more involved but we still gave some time.

Alright sounds good. I decided i am going to meet up with the caravan from PA. They have about 15 cars right now. If you want we can meet up and cruise there to meet up with them. Just let me know.

Anyone else going?

We have a few heading up from Va. Get with "Blackhawk6" to see if we can get plans together to meet up. We are getting ready for C5II 1st, then this event right after.

I drove up to this event last year and it was a very enjoyable time. I think myself and another guy from Richmond were the only ones who drove up from the Mid-Atlantic region.

For those going, don't forget to carry your passport on you (so you can get back into the US), and also time your arrival to the Toronto Metro Area to ensure you avoid rush hour. When I drove up, a 9-10 hr drive from DC (by way of Buffalo/Niagara Falls) took 12 hours because I hit the 401 Freeway at 7pm on Friday, which was their rush hour still (their rush hour is much more severe then DC rush hour).

Also, top off your tanks before you cross the border, because you will pay more for gas in Canada.

Good advice! I think im am going to do the trip solo unless anyone else wants to join in. I was going to try to meet with another group that is meeting right before they cross the border. If anyone is going up toward Buffalo/Niagara Falls let me know and we will make a nice little caravan.

I see you're in Germantown...you're best bet is to take 270 to 15 in Frederick, and then take US 15 all the way to Upstate NY. It's structured as either an expressway or as a "high-priority" 4 lane highway designed to move people through the area in most of PA. They are upgrading US 15 to I-99 from Williamsport to I-86 in NY. Once you hit I-86, just take it West to I-390(?), take that to Rochester, and hop on the New York Thruway west to Buffalo. If you cross on I-190 into Canada, you'll connect with the QEW and bypass the Niagara Falls tourist area.

I've traveled to Canada by car about six times. Besides the Toronto traffic, the roads are usually great to drive on, and if its not gridlocked, the traffic flow is usually moving at a high speed.

Oh, I almost forgot about three key things driving up there.

1) The 2010 Camaros can give you metric readings, so you don't need to figure out what 70 km/h means in MPH.

2) You may come across a "blinking green", where the light goes from Red to "Blinking Green" to Green. A "Blinking Green" is similar to receiving a "Green Arrow"...it allows you to swing a protected left turn. Most lights up there have a Green Arrow like the US, but every once in a while you may come across one that doesn't.

3) OnStar and Satellite Radio do work in Canada (in fact, when I asked OnStar this when I was in the US, the operator was actually a Canadian, LOL).
