burned my clutch. what now?

I was on a very steep hill that was a narrow alley looking for parking. There was none, so I had to reverse uphill to turn around. Didn't spin it too much, got turned around and then to the top of the hill. Tried to turn left and spun it a bit but had to stop for traffic.
When I tried again, the clutch pedal didn't follow up all the way with my foot, and the clutch just spun. BAD smell.

Today the clutch is fine, but I do notice it takes up slightly differently in first. Still chips third.
I just wonder what happened. Didn't think it should have got so hot with only two steep hill starts.

How many miles are on the car? If you feather the clutch constantly it'll progressively get worse. Not sure how sensitive it is but it definitely sounds like a burnt clutch if you smelled it

These cars are notorious for clutch not fully releasing every now and then. I had my clutch assembly replaced since and it seems to have helped.

I'd say your clutch is fine.

Car has just over 100,000 kms. I have read about the clutch problems. Never had a car do this to me before.
If I had to replace it, what is the better after market alternative?

Change the fluid and think about a separate cylinder.

Beats me. My car has a turbo 400. Lol. Try and see but it's what everyone does who has the issue you have.
