93 Octane Los Angeles...

As many that live in the People's Republik of California know, you can't get 93 octane anywhere in Los Angeles.

Oddly enough, there is one place near me that sells 100 Octane.

Question, aside from spending $8.99 per gallon, would there be any benefit from gassing up with 100 Octane?

In a stock engine, probably not. Higher octane fuels allow for higher compression ratios without knocking. If your engine starts knocking, the computer compensates, but the price of this is reduced power and efficiency. If you have no knocking at 93 octane(or lower), the benefit from raising octane very quickly reaches diminishing returns.

Not probably not. DEFINETELY not. There is no benefit from higher octane than your car was tuned for. Unless you are on the track you will never notice the difference between 91and 93. Your Camaro is set up from GM to use 91 MON.

Unless it was tuned for it, no benefit, and from my understanding - the way to go IF YOU'RE GOING TO TUNE is E85, not 100 octane.

Look online and you should be able to find a chart that tells you how many gallons of 100 you need to add to 91 to get to 93.

stock engine with 100 no you have to be tuned for it but i would fill up with 93 over 91 if it was available...there is a place in hb that sells 100 vp octane and also a 76 in la habra that i remember sells like 93 98 and 101

Go to your closest station that pumps 100 octane unleaded. Put 4 gallons of 100, and fill the rest with 91. Assuming you've been using 91, this will give you a 92.9 mixture. You can use 3 gallons of the 100 on future fill-ups to get you there. You'll have to make 2 transactions each fill-up.

Can you get 89? Your car will learn 89 over time.

Why would you choose 89 over 91?

I forgot about 91. Obviously use the highest you can find. The car will learn timing to avoid detonation.

Here we have 87, 89 & 93.

I have only put in the highest I can find which is 91.

My other vehicles use 87

I thought I read that the Camaro must have 93, which I thought using 91 was the issue I was having, i.e. Popping, hesitations, etc.
