Front Brake Squeak-Dealer TSB success or Fail?

Has anyone had the front brake squeaking at low speeds corrected by the dealer, based on the TSB 10-05-23-002 from GM. Just wondering if it is another waste of time to even take it into dealer. thanks

i just spray the hose directly onto the calipers and watch all the dust wash out, every couple of days works great

Semi metallic performance brake pads will always squeak. If you want to get rid of it, put some ceramic pads in your car.

Yeah I heard that's the real fix, but will that reduce performance at all?

Here's a lazy mans search on the web results: http://www.ehow.com/about_5463667_me...rake-pads.html

Only down side was that you need to warm up your ceramic brakes? ... and cost.

I have over 2500 miles on mine and they do this from time to time. It annoys me but isnt constant and short of getting different pads it cant be fixed.

has done it since day one but once in every 300 stops so its not enuff for me to take it in and lose a day of my car. Only sucks when you pull up next to a mustang or challenger and all they hear is that lol. Does anyone have the TSB list? I wanted to know if this sound im hearing from what seems like the trannu is fixed or even reported.

Yeah same here (2200+ mi)...

I love the brembos, and don't want to sacrifice any performance switching the pad from metallic to ceramic... but when I do need new ones, I am thinking Ceramic?

Pros
- Cleaner (less dust, non-metalic dust)
- Quiet (to the human ear)
- Longer Estimated Life

Cons
- Need warmed up
- Cost

Edit: I do alot of city driving, too.

The TSB is 10-05-23-002 and from i'm reading here is: if the dealer does what is instructed in the TSB it won't make a difference?
It this right?

Just live with it or buy ceramic pads for $300+.

Too old to accept either of those options I'm afraid

I put Hawk ceramics on all four wheels of my C6 and my G8 GXP. There is no reduction in stopping performance, and they do not need to be warmed up.

The high performance competition pads need to be warmed up but not the street pads.

I am awaiting delivery of a full set of Hawk ceramics for my SS. Should be here next week.

Say goodby to brake dust and noise.

...and your happy paying for new pads despite an obvious cheap GM design. Remember you own a piece of GM like the rest of us.

lynn, ask yourself if the dealer told you it was normal then why would GM issue a TSB? the combined intelligence of the dealers is probably lower than that of GM (which isn't much above single digit ID to begin with is it?). wtf am i missing here?
