I was abou to say; I don't know why he wasn't impressed going from a V6 to a V8. After headers, CAI, HFC, full cat-back and a tune (which is pretty much power difference between V6 and V8), it's a totally different animal. I don't even turn on the radio anymore.

I think I might've seen this on CarGurus when I was shopping. Wanted a 6-spd though, ended up getting a 2015 28k miles for 24k. Both cars are priced well

I'm finding this issue. Trying to trade-in my 1LS and get an LS3, everywhere is trying to give me barely $10k on trade and trying to charge 23-26k for the SS.
It's too far apart for me to justify the upgrade... still trying to find the right deal.

400 vs. 323 is a fairly big difference....not night and day but it will be noticeable. Additionally, the torque difference will punctuate the feel even more.
Aside from this, I typically would not trade down (in model year or trim) when going from a current car to a new car; If it were me I would be looking at either new or a one to two year old. No harm in trying it out though. That v8 roar and throaty exhaust......its an elixir that warrants a buy or trade by itself!! Great story; Good luck in your search.

Food for thought.. I picked up my current fully loaded one owner 2014 S22 RS with 34k on it in January for 22k. I waited until winter and went shopping.

Yup agreed same crap in every post from him. OP its a nice car I suspect as some have said its got some 87 in the tank if the dealer fueled it last. But hard to say.
I can't remember anymore how my L99 felt pre-tune. The car was always fast to me but it took more effort than now to get it moving until about 3000 RPM. I feel thats a good chunk of money for a 6 year old car now. I would go a bit newer even if it had more miles & at least it would have a PT warranty or something too. But judging by the way you finished your post you are very happy to have your V6 vert so I think you are still in the right car for you. Last edited by qcman; 07-12-2018 at 12:46 PM. |

Go rent a V6 for a few days, then jump back in your 1LE and take her around a few nice tight corners or round-a-bouts.

A lot of folks say that about the ZL1. The thing is with the weight, and how well the car handles speed the car feels slow when in reality it's not. Don't forget it's rated at 3.8 0-60 for the A6, that's not too shabby.

Agreed. Flinging a 4000# sled down the line to 60mph in 3.8 sec is pretty incredible. I know more exists but for us mere mortals, this is just downright fun. I understand the bug to ever increase performance is real but must be so unfulfilling when it's just never enough.

Agree to a point but that 3.8 is in a perfect world. I do see your point though and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my 1le and the ZL1. |

Lol. My daily is a 14 chevy cruze. I do love my 1le and it is a awesome car. Just a bit slower in the straights than I would like. I'm only bitter because I made a STUPID promise to my wife. I agreed to wait until the powertrain warranty ends. Almost two years from now. Ugh. Lol Well I'm off to Camaro fest. |
