Long Distance Break In

I have to pick up the car in San Jose on Monday and drive it home San Diego about 500miles. I'm going for the hard break in method so I'll be slowing then accelerating to the limit through out my drive.

Any tips?

Like you stated. Accelerate hard and then slow down but don't engine brake.

Also take the occasional on/off ramp.

NEVER SET YOUR ENGINE ON CRUISE CONTROL!!!! Worse thing you could do when breaking in an engine!!! You need to vary RPM's.

I love the off/on ramp idea good way to stay legal while I accelerate like a bat out of hell, and varies the rpm

I'm home and exhausted. Did about 500 miles of great acceleration runs from San Jose to San Diego. Car feels like I do at the end, a little rattle and brake squeel pulling in to San Diego.

Also seems to idle a bit low car does a little rumble at idle shaking the car.

Doing the fuse pull tomorrow.

The rumble is normal. It's the slightly lumpy cam. I like it.
