2018 2SS Falling Headliner Issue
I have the falling/sagging headliner issue in the front. I'm not sure how it compares to others, but I don't think it's super noticeable. My warranty is up in a couple of weeks. I already visited the dealer for this and they said they'll have to remove the windshield and will attempt to fix the headliner before replacing it. Based on other's experiences on this thread it seems this may be a high risk low reward repair. Having already had issues with my car being returned in the condition I dropped it off in at a different dealer I'm not sure I have a lot of confidence in this dealer to be able to make the repair without any damage and actually resolve the issue. Does anyone know if they changed part numbers and actually fixed the issue with the headliner? Has anyone had any success with repairs?

I for one wouldn't let them remove my windshield. How about simply using something like this to cover the edge instead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0721YWC5S?

I wouldn’t have it changed out unless it’s really bothering you. My 2017 ZL1 has that problem on the passenger side but not that bad that I notice it all the time. The only warranty I have left is on the drivetrain so any replacement would be on my dollar. Good luck.

I'd advise against it. I had mine replaced a couple of years ago and the new one now droops in the back as well as the front. they didn't fix $hit

I looked at gm parts online and it appears a new headliner is priced at $1500! Thats insane.

However, replacing the headliner requires pulling off and then re-gluing the windshield, which I definitely wouldn't want to allow unless absolutely necessary... as I mentioned above, many fixed the sagging headliner with some black rubber edge trim from amazon, I also have it at the ready just in case.

I will replace the headliner with an alcantara one if/when I need to replace the windshield.

Just a thought, but would it be a possibility to get some sort of liquid adhesive and apply with a syringe?

Spend the money for good professional contact cement like Dap Welwood. It is intended to be sprayed though a spray gun, but in small sections can be applied with a brush. Its absolutely what I would do before pulling a windshield and unlike a new GM headliner, this fix would last forever. Dont waste your time with consumer grade stuff like 3m super 77 ect ect, they dont last.

I had the headline replaced on my 16. I had rattles afterwards and the dealer scratched my passenger doorjamb and drivers door.
The windshield removal isn't the primary concern. Its the trim they remove to free the headliner.

I had mine replaced through warranty and it came out perfect. Crazy because the car is AC stored so its probably some defect. The worst part was I had to come back 3 times because the dealer kept rejecting the headliners sent and would have to reschedule. I don't think contact cement would have fixed it as the foam kinda rolls out on the edges. I did consider some sort of edging material but thought it should be the way its suppose to be so I had the dealer take care of it. I was able to take the car the same day but they wanted it to sit several hours in the sun for the windshield to set.
