Painting the front grills

As time goes on, they turn into a faded black or a whiteness. Has anyone painted their grills so they stay black?

My lower bumper is all scratched up and I am going to repaint it. And since I have it off, I figured I might as well paint the whole front end. And since I had to take the grills out, I was thinking of painting them black. Kinda nice to have a paint gun and a compressor.

I will probably take me about 6-9 ounces of silver paint and I got me a deal of a pint for only 27.00!!!!

For painting you definitely need to give them a good cleaning preferably with isopropyl alcohol being the final cleaner and use adhesion promoter first.

Flame treating is another form of prep which involves briefly running a small torch flame across the plastic very lightly (not heating or cooking the plastic) to remove surface oils, then wipe with alcohol.

Do not flame treat your plastic parts. I've been painting cars since 1974. I've NEVER seen anyone do that.
Use a gray scuff pad with alcohol
Then clean it up and apply adhesion promoter
Then prime, let dry, sand.
Then clean with a degreaser. And finally paint it
Now you are ready for your clear coat.
A matte clear coat would look great!
